Truly a Great Find
We live in Brighton and wanted to find a good Italian restaurant to celebrate my wife's Birthday. After reading many Google reviews and Tripadvisor reviews from as far a field as Eastbourne through to Hove and being put off by the many negative reviews of those restaurants, that I tend to give more importance to, we settled to come to the Colosseo in Hove having read no bad reviews. From the moment we stepped into the door we were greeted warmly and sat down at our table. There was a family group of people also celebrating a birthday and later on a much larger group came in, again for a Birthday celebration. We started off with an Italian Red wine, followed by the most delicious and well presented starters. Main dishes were absolutely delicious also, followed by incredible desserts and coffees. Each meal was lovingly presented and all the time the manager and waitress were asking if we were ok and checking with the other guests too. The desserts were taken to the first Birthday party group and the manager kindly asked us all to sing Happy Birthday which everybody gladly joined in. When we had our desserts brought to us, again the Manager made the announcement and everybody sang Happy Birthday to my Wife. The whole evening seemed to be so relaxing and fun, and that is to the credit of the manager, and his staff and the chef must also be commended. The restaurant is nicely decorated also. We can not fault any part of our evening there. Just sorry that we had to leave before we could sing Happy Birthday to the third group that were there celebrating. We will definitely...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant when it was called Seasons, on many, many occasions, and every single time it was fabulous, took family and friends and they all loved it........however, we won't be returning after experiencing it as Colosseo, my dish was particularly appalling, Spaghetti carbonara...peculiar brown colour, supposed to have been made using egg yolk, the traditional way, as stated on the menu, when I enquired about the ingredients, obviously because of the look on my face, he was not only incredibly patronising, but then told me there was cream in it, and you're probably wondering about the colour, it's because it's made with expensive pancetta!!!! I informed him that I have made it at home, and it shouldn't be brown, he then told me, I'm probably using cheap pancetta....I normally buy it from Waitrose 🤣and he said "exactly"😂...and it didn't taste or look like this. I think the most disappointing thing is we really, really wanted to like it, but unfortunately, most importantly the service wasn't very good at all, I don't go to any restaurant to be chastised, it wasn't busy, and it's such a shame, especially the impact the Coronavirous has had on the hospitality....please rethink your service...and check what the chef is doing, you can't add ingredients to a dish that aren't on the menu, that's a recipe for disaster....no...
Read moreBilly - you never fail to deliver. Your food is phenomenal. Tastes so delicious and the presentation is just as perfect. We visited this evening to celebrate mums birthday. The effort you put in to make people feel welcome and special is unreal. The birthday music and the birthday song sang by all present added that extra special moment. All guests are greeted as soon as they enter the cosy restaurant and many are known to you by name (as returning customers). We have eaten at your restaurant on many occasions now and we shall continue to visit to celebrate our special occasions. Colosseo’s is by far our favourite Italian restaurant. Thank you and your staff for continuing your hard work, delivering magnificent food in a warm, cosy friendly atmosphere. If I could give you more stars then I would. For those of you thinking of trying this restaurant for the first time, all I can say is it won’t be your last , you will not be disappointed and like me, I am sure it will become your favourite Italian...
