We were searching the Internet for a restaurant that was open on a Monday evening that was local to Great Somerford, where my son and future daughter in law lives at the moment. Also, somewhere that served something we all wanted to eat, we have varied tastes. The Rattlebone came up, and we booked a table online. What a gorgeous cotswold village is Sherston, and a traditional looking pub is the Rattlebone! We ordered mushroom and garlic soup, and Followed by rump steak, rib eye steak, and chicken skewers. Then chocolate brownie and cherry frangipane tart. Everything was absolutely delicious, presented beautifully, hot, and large portions. We all struggled to eat it all but managed the majority of it, too good to leave it. The staff were both friendly and polite, very cheerful and efficient service. The atmosphere was lovely. Another nearby table was being used, and the bar had a few customers in. We all agreed we would definitely go back there to eat again, and we would highly recommend this place. A* we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Compliments to the...
Read moreReally disappointed at the Sunday lunch today. Arrived for our restaurant booking only to be sat in the bar with a wobbly table and chairs. Took 15mins just to get a drink and then I had to get someone’s attention to order food. Order taken reluctantly and were told “it would be some time”. Left sat at the table with empty glasses waiting for an hour until food arrived. Food mediocre and nothing special especially for the length of time it took to prepare. Had to constantly prompt staff for simple things eg cutlery, sauces, additional drinks. No apologies made by staff for delays and not even a thank you as we paid and walked out afterwards! Will not be rushing back here. Shame as used to be a favourite pub of ours but today was really shocking. Lots of staff milling around looking stressed but equally being ineffectual. Surprised to see staff eating and drinking behind the bar when we were sat with empty glasses and waiting an hour for our roast. Really not...
Read moreWe visited Westonbirt Arboretum and wanted to find somewhere to stop before heading back to south Wales. Purely picked this pub (7 mins drive ) based on the main photo. Had no idea what it would be like or if food was being served. We totally lucked out :-) It was perfect. In the pub I looked at it again on Google and saw it had an average of 4.5 stars. I’ve rated it as 5 starts. The food was fanastic. They had a good choice of real ales. This was early evening on a Friday and there was a really nice atmosphere in the pub- a lovely buzz of friendly chat. The service from staff was 10/10. We sat in a side room and there was a cost log fire keeping us...
