5th-8th June 2025: lovely to be back this year. 6th-9th June 2024: was nice to see for the first time since we've been coming to Eskdale a beer festival at the Ratty Arms. It was to celebrate the 50th Anniversary. However, it coincided with the Boot Beer Festival and seemed a little disorganised. There was also a train disruption on and while we were then from 1200 noon till 1500hrs, it was fairly dead. Possibly a combination for rail disruption and disorganisation. Bar person was trying to get us to buy beer tokens and said it would be quicker than cash, however, one of us only drank half's and it seemed a very convoluted method. Stick to cash/contactless. 8th-10th June 2023: back again [photo update] Been coming to Eskdale/Ravenglass for many years. Great pub, good food and small selection of real ales. Located just outside of Ravenglass Station. A great first stop before heading into the village of Ravenglass for a mooch round. 23rd-25th May 2022: having been coming to the village of Boot in Eskdale since 2004, we have frequented Ravenglass (via La'al Ratty on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway) many times. The Ratty Arms review remains unchanged, as it's selection of real ales remains good, along with service, cleanliness, dog friendly and location to the railway. Thanks to the older chap in the back that gave Archie our Golden Retriever a treat. A friend of Archies, is a friend of ours. We are yet to sample food, so maybe next time! Only a photo of the 3 of us on the railway this year, and next time we come back, we will be Mr & Mrs!

Thank you Jackie for taking our last minute request to book a table for lunch at 1215pm on new year's eve. Our trip was very last minute, and to be able to get an immediate booking was fantastic. Our train from Lancaster arrived just after midday and we were sat at our window table straight away. Fabulous service and our lunch food was lovely, generous portions, and quality was outstanding. Turkey brie and cranberry baguette and the Christmas turkey stuffing etc baguette were delicious. And we really didn't need the chips but they were lovely too. Highly recommended before and/or after a trip to the steam train. Can't wait to return again in spring/summer.

Ate here with friends when staying in Ravenglass. A good selection of drinks at the bar, whilst the food menu is relatively small, but hits all the pub classics. There is also a specials board which adds a few items to the menu. As we had a long walk, I went for the cheeseburger and chips - delicious! Whilst a friend had the pie of the day - honestly I had food envy. For dessert I went for the sticky Toffee pudding and my request for "as much custard as possible" was granted (see my photo) whilst another friend had the cinder and ashes sundae. Prices were very reasonable with great service and staff. Dog friendly!

Nice enough pub food. Group of 5 of us visited in April and sat outside as inside was noisy and busy. There isn’t much choice of places to eat in the area, therefore can’t be too choosy. The staff were efficient and kept very busy. Bar ran out of clean glasses for wine. Our 5 meals were battered fish, curry special, broccoli bake and 2 ribeye steaks. Meals apart from the steaks were nice but overpriced. Unfortunately the steaks were very disappointing. A very small steak more like a minute steak as thickness was under 1cm. Realised later that no weights of the steaks are put on the menus, which is unusual but maybe a way of serving whatever size steak. At £15 for thin overcooked steak is poor value for money and disappointing. Difficult to cook a very thin steak medium rare I imagine, which is why my steak was well done. Couldn't send back at start of the meal as there was then a further 1 hr 15 wait on food. Ate some steak and all chips and salad, which were nice. I left a 3rd of my Over cooked steak and asked for the feedback to be given to the management. Polite young waiter returned very apologetic to say that nothing can be done other than a free dessert for one. I would have rather management and the chef take ownership of the poor quality with feedback. For the price and quality, would not return or...

When I see the great reviews I thought I would go and eat some lovely food but unfortunately never got a chance to eat the bar lady said 30 mins wait, waited for 50 mins to only be told another 20 mins. The service was not the greatest so I decided to ask for a refund. With no apology nothing. I will not be recommending this to anybody of colour I do think that was the problem. Shame it looked like a nice place.,, how dare you say I used the race card. I was told 30 mins and the gentleman behind the bar was standing right their. How can I expect to jump the queue. If I came in before the people inside I should have been served before them. Nobody was at their table at all. Look I eat out all the time. I didn't write a nasty review but an honest one, this is what I experienced in your establishment. Your response says it all. You guys treated us like second class. I know it was busy who wanted to jump the queue .learn a bit of customer service before you reply to customers. Have...
