Love the railway... cafe, not so much. It used to be very good, and if I was in the area I would go out of my way to visit. I remember friendly staff who would fuss over you, and nothing was too much trouble. It had a full cafe menu, and if you wanted something that wasn't on the menu (eg double egg, chips and beans), it would be knocked up in no time at all. Alas, that has all gone. It's now a basic overpriced "coffee & cake" place. I arrived at lunchtime - between trains, so the place was empty - and I was after something substantial and filling. The best I could find was a cheese & tomato panini, with a basic side salad. It was okay, but not what I was looking for. Add to that a fairly lukewarm latte (over £3), the total was £10.70 for what was a pretty basic snack. Service was businesslike. All-in-all very disappointing. I miss the old menu and the joie de vie. I'll not be back.

Friendly café with a good selection of nice food and drink on the menu. Not massive but there are plenty of tables outside (under cover).

Turntable Cafe was my first stop after arriving in Ravenglass by train. Such a warm welcome and great service. I had the homemade mushroom soup (soup of the day) with a seeded brown roll and lakeland butter. The soup was delicious. I sat outside on a platform facing into the garden and playground. Bonuses for seeing the arrival of one of the steam engines at the Ravenglass & Eskdale railway. Also, I was visited by a Robin who shared my roll. The server was so lovely and...
