The most shabby, run down excuse for a hotel I've ever come across. From the entrance to the rooms being on the corridor to the toilets and smoking area, up the stairs of worn through carpet to 4 rooms that would make a hostel seem like a Hilton. Wonky furniture, mouldy bathrooms, knackered matresses and smelly carpets. Having to pay an extra £6:50 for breakfast so our 6 year old son could have a bowl of Frosties was the icing on the cake. If not for the fact we were attending a family wedding locally and there was no other rooms available we would of left in an instant. The ongoing refurbishment promised on the website seems to of been forgotten. All in all a complete joke.

Really loved staying here, the room was perfectly sized, well thought out facilities. Fridge, TV, USB chargers on the lamps. Great shower room as well. There's also a communal lounge with sofas and a TV. Outdoor terrace was a nice touch. Direct below is the bar itself, with lovely outdoor area, nicely decorated inside with TV and pool table. Very welcoming staff who were friendly and had time for a good chat as well. Overall a really positive experience and definitely will return.

Red Lion is an amazing and traditional English pub. You have about 8 rooms located on top of the bar and the room I was given was absolutely fantastic. The receptionist was clear and really helpful, he explained and showed everything that was needed. The location in itself was amazing, would definitely recommend.

This has to be the nicest refurbished pub in Dalton, what a transformation. We visited for a drink just after lockdown and the pubs reopening. On entering the building the procedure of using the automatic hand sanitizer then supplying the staff with name address and phone number then we were shown to our well cleaned table. The first impression was wow the place was spotless and smelt clean, all the original features have been kept during the refurb, one being the low ceilings in places and the lovely bar and fireplace. We believe the bedrooms have had a total new refit to. During our stay the staff Mandy and Damien were so pleasant and accommodating they took our orders so we didn't go to the bar and brought our drinks over so our visit was so relaxing. There is a pool room and a new extended dining room out the back that has got beautiful decor. The prices were reasonable and they sell a good selection of wines, spirits and draughted larger, ales and ciders. This is one pub you must visit whilst in Dalton to absorb the atmosphere and enjoy a drink or a meal, weather you are seated inside or outside on the front of the building were you can watch the world go by or in the rear...

Was extremely pleased with our stay at The red Lion, Dalton! We received an email before arrival with access / key instructions, that was really easy to follow. A great refurb with rear outside space for residents, updated clean rooms, comfy bed and a nice shower. Also has a lounge with facilities to eat own food. ||Rooms can be accessed via rear entrance and via a coded door from the Red Lion pub downstairs. The pub has a really homely feeling inside and there is also outside seating to the front and rear. The staff are really welcoming and friendly :-) ||Ate at the sister pub The brown Cow, again lovely staff and food was nice and portions were massive!||Dalton is a lovely town and great location as a base for travelling around the area. ||If Barrow council invested I believe it would be as popular as Ulverston!||One feedback comment for the Red lion would be to replace bedding with nicer cotton sheets/duvet cover, nothing wrong with current but cotton would be cooler to sleep in.||Already planning to return with parents - See...
