Just been for Sunday lunch, can’t fault the food…delicious and plenty of it! However, let down by service! The staff were friendly and polite but slow, which in itself for us not a real problem but sadly we were forgotten about after finishing our main. We were never asked if all ok or if we would like a dessert or coffee! We waited with obvious empty glasses on the table with staff walking past and looking over but not once came over to enquire! My husband and son would have liked a dessert and we would have ordered tea and coffees, it is not up to the customer to get up and ask for this. After waiting some time we decided to go to the bar and pay and leave. Such a shame really. Maybe a conversation with staff to make sure this element of service is covered. We will come back tho as food is lovely and hopefully have a dessert and coffee next time should we...

Avoid until they get the old chef back!!!!

What an awful meal - really shocked as we have been going here for several years and have previously left glowing reviews. Ordered the Sunday roast and was given: Yorkshire puddings - Burnt - asked if I could have another one - was brought an equally burnt one. Gave them both back to the waitress and said they are both burnt 'sorry' nothing else organised. -Roast potatoes - hard Roast chicken - rubbery vegetables - given 2 rectangle plates for 8 of us who ordered the roast (2 ordered the platters) when we asked for more the waitress was not impressed.

In other news the McDonalds I had on the way home was lovely.

Ship in - please bring back your old chef - or train...

Having heard and reading good reviews about the Ship, myself and a party of 11 booked in for Sunday lunch, we were all very disappointed, it was one of the worst Sunday lunches I've had in a pub, food was very bland and tasteless, roast pots were well overdone ,no mash potatoes, limited veg, despite us being on 2 tables ,all the veg were served to 1 table and told to share, we passed our comments on to the waitress (who was lovely) she said she would inform her supervisor ,we waited expecting someone to come and see us, but nobody came. It's a lovely pub and very friendly pleasant staff, but never...

Went here for an evening meal after booking a table for 6.30pm. We were staying nearby at York Meadows Caravan Park. We were met by lovely friendly staff who made us feel really welcome. My wife and I both went for one of the Chef's specials, Beef stroganoff with rice and home made chips. The food was piping hot, absolutely delicious and very generous portions. One of the best pub meals we've had in a number of years. The two main courses, a pint of cider and a diet coke came to £36 which we felt was excellent value for money coupled with exceptional staff. Well done to you and your team. Ian from Durham

Me and my partner were staying at a local glamping site which was only a 10 minute walk, and a two minute drive away from this gorgeous local, family pub. We were blown away by how amazing this place was! Some of the best pub grub we have ever eaten 😍 from start to finish the service was 10/10 the ladies who served us were friendly, and gave amazing customer service!! Food, and desserts were amazing. We said we would drive from Hull just to come back for the food! 😍 plus it’s DOG FRIENDLY which makes the pub even more likeable. Highly recommend💛

We had been out on a bike ride and stopped here for something to eat. We ate outside hence I cannot comment on atmosphere . The flower displays outside were stunning. The food was so tasty. A few GF to choose from. The picture is of my burger. They even supplied it with a gf brioche bun. Amazing. Thank you . Staff attentive. What was not to like….nothing for us. Would go again for sure. ✔️
