My family and I would like to say a big thank you to Steve and Karen for putting together an amazing buffet for my mum's wake on Tuesday 13th June. Your hard work was much appreciated. We were provided the function room which was perfect and as it was a hot summer's day the doors were opened onto the beer garden. The buffet was segregated off in the dining area and was above our expectations. The food was amazing and a superb choice catering for all tastes. Recently re-opened, decor and real fire very inviting. Chicken curry was tasty although food could have been hotter. Gave them the benefit of doubt and returned for Sunday dinner. Wish we hadn't bothered. The carrots were bordering on raw, the cabbage and broccoli were ok, the roast potatoes were well roasted but had been reheated. The meat was disgusting. The cheapest cut of beef, full of fat and gristle. Sent first meal back but secong meal was no better. Landlord didn't seem to care. Will not be returning, even for just a drink. The 'Chef' was all of 18 if he was lucky, no training whatsoever. Very disappointed...

So glad this pub has reopened. Having two dogs (plus an extra one we're looking after) we are always on the lookout for dog friendly pubs. The huge garden is a perfect place for them, and the summer houses are a great addition. The land lady is so welcoming and the service is warm and friendly. Take no notice of the negative reviews about beer prices. They are all made up. I had Timothy Taylor for £4 and a Theakstons best for the same. I was also given a loyalty card for buy 5 get 1 free. These new owners have done a fantastic job of turning this place around. I look forward to trying out their food next...
