DO NOT EAT HERE
Just had a completely disgusting experience at this place, we thought it would be a great evening for my birthday meal with the family! Firstly, the young lad dropped a whole pint of beer over my grandad which the staff proceeded to laugh at! We were of course grateful for the free round of drinks that were offered however we do not appreciate being laughed at! Then we waited over an hour for the food to come out, they only served 1-2 plates at a time (we had a table of 8 ) it was easily a 15/20 minute wait between each plate! All the food was also cold when served (my dad went WITHOUT any food!)which is inexcusable for any restaurant, several occasions we went over to the bar to let them know we still had food missing and that it was cold, we asked atleast 3 times! To make matters worse, the staff was unhelpful and dismissive when I brought up the issue, we had asked to speak with whoever is in charge, to be told the assistant manager has gone home! Therefore no one left in charge of the pub! I had managed to get the bar lad to allow me to speak with the assistant manager on the phone, who then had to call the actual Manager (we were told she was on holiday until the 16th…) as hardly ANY of the food was eaten due to the reasons stated (I do have some photos of the left food before the quickly took it away) we politely tried to explain that we were extremely unhappy to be paying for the food we had NOT eaten, and again the staff were dismissive to this, I was shocked when they even threatened to call the police over a simple complaint about the poor service. I was just trying to get the situation addressed, but the staff handled it horribly, the young lad then finally allowed us to pay for just the drinks we had drank, my mum even offered to leave contact details to come back in to have a meeting with the manager when she gets back on the 16th after not being taken up on that offer, we then left feeling so angry and upset, and very bizarrely to then see them taking photo’s of us and our vehicles upon leaving the carpark! Like we were some sort of Criminals! Absolutely not coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Completely...
Read moreBeen to this establishment twice and had zero complaints, even left good reviews. This time I brought my family with me but to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I had asked when we are here before whether the Sunday Dinner came with mashed potatoes. Mario told me not to worry as if they didn’t I could order some. We ordered our food and I asked could we have a side order of mash potatoes if the dinner doesn’t already come with it. First error was the wrong lager was served. Then after waiting for 1hr even though the pub was not busy our food eventually arrived. Roast potatoes were dried out. All the food came to the table and I asked for the side order of mash. Waitress never came back so my daughter approached the bar once I’d nearly finished my dinner and then she came over to apologise on behalf of the chef! My father was so hungry that he ate his steak and ale pie meal but did not enjoy it. Three of us has Sunday lunch and although it was okay and the meat was nice it far from blew me away. Considering it is a smokehouse I’ve had better from many carveries. I approached the bar and asked for Mario to be told he had left. I explained my experience to the barman who said he was in charge and informed him that I was disappointed and upset that I had brought my family out and although our company was excellent the food and service was not. I would have at least expected this to have been reflected in the final bill and resolved the issue so that we would try again. Unfortunately this was not the case and due to this experience and a bill of £125 for chicken wings, two burgers, steak and ale pie, 2 Sunday lunch and a small Sunday lunch and chicken nuggets we will not be returning. It is a lot of money to ‘waste’ when the food and service is not up to scratch. I would hope that the owners take this review seriously and contact me personally as I believe the service I received once I had complained was also inadequate. Booking made for a table of 7 at...
Read moreMixed reviews here mostly negative sadly. My experience was also very negative which is a shame as it used to be a pleasant place. We often hear of public houses going through tough times and closing. If they are all run like this it wouldn't be surprising, can't understand how it stays open. Sunday 22/6/25 arrive at 5 looking forward to Sunday lunch. Menu showed large, small or trio with all the trimmings. However bar staff 1st wasn't sure if the kitchen was open. No signs to say early closing but as it turned out the kitchen was closing at 6. But they don't do Sunday lunch during the summer. SO CHANGE THE Menu. We ordered Hunters chicken. Paid for that, 4 drinks and 2 other meals. Total £54. Waiter came over, they had no hunters chicken either. In fact no chicken at all. Not going very well is it? We ordered med rare steak and gammon instead. There was a price difference of +65p but Staff never asked for the added cost. The gammon arrived without the advertised egg, the steak without mushrooms or tomato. When questioned the landlady stated they plated up for price of the hunters chicken. Was quite agitated when we queried that the price difference was only 65p and we would have paid it had we been asked. Not a place to go back too, if that's her attitude and service, she did say well dont come back then. Absolute disgrace. She shouldn't work in hospitality with that attitude. The steak and gammon wasn't even cooked properly so didn't want them. The grumpy manager was quick to remove items to get 65p back wasn't prepared to refund any part of the price for the poor meals. WE LEFT. The other 2 meals were hotdogs, not worth the menu price and they didn't have the advertised onions! £54 for 4 meals 2 of which were very poor and couldn't be eaten. Beer was poor and in dirty glass. Tables sticky. Not a good look at all, will be contacting the owners although that may prove difficult as they are liquidating according to...
