I had my wedding here, both ceremony and reception, in March. Firstly, the value for money in the packages offered is fantastic and undercuts all surrounding competition by thousands. We searched for months for a venue locally, but found everything was getting into five figures very very quickly. When we found The Walled Garden, we couldn't quite believe how good it was in comparison to everything else around! This value for money did not come at the expense of quality and attention however - in fact quite the opposite. We actually live abroad in Barcelona, Spain, and were dreading having to organise a wedding from abroad. However, from the very beginning Tor and Jon made the process easy, straightforward and manageable. They were charming, attentive, answered all of our questions in detail promptly, and generally made the whole thing stress free. They went out of their way to provide everything that we asked for, and I can't speak highly enough of Tor, Jon and all of the staff who served us. Everyone went above and beyond to keep us and our guests happy and comfortable. The venue itself is so pretty and charming that it requires no further decoration at all. The space is excellent, with a large central bar being a brilliant place for socialising and dancing, and The Peach House being an excellent refuge from the cold and eating space. The venue helped us provide extra heating and also had a box of blankets available for guests who were chilly. The terrace was used for the ceremony itself, and provided a stunning backdrop of the hills behind while accommodating over 70 guests, with a mix of seating and standing. The food was provided by one of their partners, Burgervore, and was widely praised by guests for being one of the best burgers they had had. The team was able to serve 76 guests very effectively, and the wait time was minimal. The food really was outstanding! The drinks were provided by their Rebellion brewery bar, and were well priced and well received. As a teetotaller, I was very happy to have several high quality alcohol free options too! Overall I can't recommend The Walled Garden highly enough, and I was overjoyed to be able to have the wedding of my dreams in the place I grew up. Thank you so much to the team at The Walled Garden, and I can't recommend them highly enough!

A lovely little setting at a large circular table and tastefully decorated for Christmas but food was somewhat lacking and servers just did the bare minimum. We were a party of 6, 3 adults and 3 children. I’m not sure if there is another entrance but we had to climb up steps to access and one of our party was disabled so this was a little problematic. Food: my cream tea was pretty much inedible. The scone was rock hard, cold and seemed stale. It had a white film inside. There was no butter, the scone was not cut and as previously mentioned was cold. It did have cute little unopened jars of cream and jam with it but I couldn’t eat it after a couple of mouthfuls. I didn’t complain as I was kindly given half an almond croissant by a member of my party instead and it would have been too much effort to complain anyway as there were long queues and the food was prepared in a separate building! You had to take a menu, find a table and number and then go back and order and pay in another building and then go back and sit down. The almond croissant tasted nice but would have been nicer, warm. Venue was nice, if a little cramped. Kept having to pull my chair inwards to let people get in and out of the building. The table was very big and not much room around it to manoeuvre. I had good company so was not that bothered by the food and lack of personality from the servers but would never return to eat there. Would definitely return for the Santa’s grotto nearby though…that was superb!

Went to the pumpkin picking event today (27/10/24). It was bigger than last year, it has places for you to take pictures like sitting on a tractor, with scarecrows, under an arch, on a cart. It was filled with hay on the floor and some pumpkins hidden so the kids enjoyed hunting for them, a great selection of pumpkins from small to large and a good space of land to accommodate. Children very much enjoyed it, wasn't a pit of mud (although it hasn't rained very much past couple of days which helped!) Big problem I had was entry fee. It was £5 per person but that £5 did not guarantee you a pumpkin of any size even small. It was 1-3 people per entry = 1 free pumpkin and 4+ people per entry = 3 free pumpkins. So I ended up spending £35 as there were 7 of us and only got 3 pumpkins between us which I feel is quite expensive and a bit cheeky that it's not 1 pumpkin per paid person as it's a pumpkin picking event. You can of course pay extra for more pumpkins (or go in separate groups if you have a large group!). But cafe is nice, we only got drinks so unable to comment on the food but served well, didn't take too long and brought to your bench, plenty of seating, child friendly, everyone enjoyed themselves and it has a play park at the back which the kids loved.

Shockingly low standards lead to a refund today. Went here today for lunch and had to ask if the mushrooms toast was vegan as wasn’t labelled as even vegetarian, makes me doubt whether the server knew what she was saying when she said it was vegan… but was told it was sold out anyway, fine, I asked for the vegan wrap, sorry that’s sold out too they said, fine third and final choice I’ll have smashed avocado toast, a pretty standard offering. How a place can be sold out of 2/3 of the vegan menu is wild! Anyway, avocado toast arrived and looked good until I took a few bites and realised the crunch was not the toast, but the avocado itself. The avocado was so hard that I couldn’t even cut into it, let alone eat it, the unripe chunks of avocado went flying across the patio. It was clear the kitchen had run out of ripe avocados so decided to just add raw, rock hard chunks of a different avocado into the mix with the last spoonful of ripe avocados. The standards in that kitchen must be unbelievably low to have even let something like that go out the doors! You could even see where the chef had attempted to cut up the avocado and failed! So how they thought this would be an acceptable thing to serve is beyond me. I took the dish inside and told them it was inedible and they didn’t even offer me a replacement or an apology, just said “do you want your money back” to which I said that I assume there are no ripe avocados to serve and you’ve sold out of every other vegan option, so yeah, I guess I will have my money back? Staff, presumably used to giving out refunds by the looks of the other reviews here, seemed bewildered by what to do with a disappointed customer and stared at me blankly while I waited for a simple “sorry about that” which wasn’t received so I just walked back to my chair empty handed with the promise of £9 in my account within 48 hours . Wild wild choices being made here, low stock, sold out menus, inedible food knowingly leaving the kitchen, no vegan cakes, menu not adequately labelled for v/vg, and then no apology or alternatives offered when inedible food served. We both left hungry after there being zero vegan cakes and our toast having to be returned and refunded. Would not recommend anyone go here for more than a glass...
