Unfriendly. We were asked to sit in the back room, aka ā€œthe sports barā€ That was the first thing the bar staff said to us on arrival. We arrived at the front door to see a placard ,it says ā€œno dogsā€, so we went to the left side of the building thinking this was the way into the garden and a lady told us to go round to the car park, which is on the right side of the building, up the hill, which isn’t clear at all there’s no signage to tell you. We walked into the bar via the main door as we didn’t know how to get into the ā€œdog entranceā€ Immediately a local customer said to his friend ā€œit’s says no dogsā€ Not very welcoming at all. We won’t be returning to here. Much rather go to the cherry tree around the corner. The staff are a different league. On the plus side, the food was good value. And the lovely lady who made it, and made a fuss of our dogs..should be the welcoming committee… she was engaging and professional. Doesn’t get the buddy seal of approval. Definitely not a rovers return Not recommended. Nice village. Just of off the a428 Not impressed at all.

Great village pub. Really friendly and polite staff. Dating back to 1700's the place has oodles of charm and history, with inglenook fire place and style too. The top bar is dog friendly, as is the beer garden to the rear. Food is very good, well priced and varied too. I ate the Cumberland Tub from the main menu, and it's huge, and very tasty too. You won't be disappointed šŸ‘ Great atmosphere in an historic inn. Loads of beers and ales to choose from Highly recommended and we will definitely be back again. Plenty of parking space as well. Thanks to the whole team at the pub. Great place 😁

My first visit. Friendly welcome and prompt service, a varied menu to suit many palates. The range of Ales is impressive and I enjoyed my 'Tiger' which took me back to the late seventies in Loughborough. The pub was clean and others were having lunch ahead of us with clean plates being returned to the kitchen. The internal style looked a bit dated for my liking but this might be perfect for their regulars?

Spent an hour walking to the White Hart, only to find the whole pub was closed for a private party. They could have kept the bar open for the public. It is after all supposed to be a pub. Complained in writing, but didn't receive any response. I guess this speaks volumes. It's no wonder that so many pubs are closing down, if this is how much some value their customers! It may also be why the other pub in the village is more popular, despite them charging a lot more for their food and drinks.

I suggest anyone planning to go to this pub, especially if this involves a long walk, phone first to check if they are open to the public. Also watch out for early closing if they are quiet.

Update after the response by the owner: Nice to eventually get a reply. A pity & rude that my email was ignored. My point is that the whole pub was closed to the public. You are supposed to be running a PUB. The bar could have been left open, and private party in the lounge/restaurant. I don't need be phone in future to check, because I won't be...

Terrible service, mediocre food - certainly nothing special and 2 hour wait for food. That is what we was subjected to last week, unless you left your card behind the bar for anyone to hack ( no security ) we was made to pay bit by bit .

No table service! had to go to the bar for everything - It was a good 2 hours from ordering to when the food came, most people had gone by then- no one came to clear away, dirty dishes or glasses , we wanted a pudding only to told we were too late for desert- blooming cheek as it was their fault on the lateness of our food which had paid for in advance...anyhow after stating this she said ok this took a further 20mins later and me going back to the bar twice to find out where the desert was, we eventually got the pudding, But we had to clear our dirty plates of to another table to eat this cold shop bought pud.

the service was non existent-the attitude of the manageress was terrible - she is in the wrong job !

If you want a good night out, go to...
