Very dissapointed with our lunchtime meal, we chose the grilled Tiger prawn starter, along with a shared bowl of Nachos, what we received was a portion of what looked like frozen king prawns that were dowsed in a dressing that didnt hide the tastlessness of the frozen prawns and we're guessing the closest that the prawns got to see the grill was as the chef walked past the grill to put them on a hot plate. my main course of Fish and chips (fish under cooked, with the batter only just cooke, but that could be my personal preference), was adequate and the rest of the family commented on the large portions for theirs, but were dissapointed in the quality. what I found annoying was that when we ordered I specifically ordered an alcohol free larger, for which I was given three choices of and happily drank the one I chose, I reordered another one later during the meal, only to find that I had been originally served the alcoholic version at the start of the meal. Not a great deal for myself, but the staff weren't to know that I didn't have a medical reason for my choice, but the fact they served me the non-alcoholic version when I asked for the same again - sloppy service. I've attached photos of the King and Tiger prawns to see whether their chef will know the difference!

We were recently on holiday in the area near The Woopack and visited three times. Twice just for drinks and the other time for a meal. We were both really impressed with the venue. The staff were not only friendly and helpful. They were attentive and worked hard to make sure that customers had an enjoyable visit. The food was very good and the prices were very reasonable. I was taken by surprise, considering how busy the place was, that our food was served so quickly. I was also surprised that the man serving us our food noticed my glas was almost empty and volunteered to fetch me a refill whilst I enjoyed my dinner. That doesn't happen very often these days! Being the person that I am, I was impressed with the standard of the decor that was completed during a recent refurbishment. It is of a very high standard and the designer was very good. I would like to say that I was going to visit again soon but as we now live in Kent, it would be a long drive, but The Woolpack is certainly a magnet to revisit the area.

The food was absolutely fantastic but I feel like I entered some sort of food eating challenge by mistake! I had the woolpack burger, a sight to behold and an endeavour to eat, but every piece cooked to perfection. I foolishly looked at the dessert menu and decided to have a little salted caramel torte. Sadly, a giant mountain of torte was delivered with a jug of cream.......I was defeated with 4 or 5 spoonfuls left......until a member of staff challenged me to finish it, male pride was my downfall as I shovelled the rest in and let it be known now that I died by one of the finest desserts I've ever had. The chilli and Meatballs/pasta were also praised by other guests and the food at other tables looked equally amazing. Lovely staff and a delightful well decorated and clean environment, would come back, but I must now lie down and allow diabetes or a sugar coma run its course, there are worse ways to go......thank you for a wonderful experience

It was Coronation Day yesterday,it seemed overcast and my Mother, (my Dad passed away recently) , and I decided we would watch it on TV then go out to eat. As she lives near the Woolpack Inn we called and even though it was past 2pm they said they were still serving and that my old dog could come inside to. So we arrived with the sun ☀️ blazing. 23 c!! Lots of people sitting outside and a few places to park. Mostly young guys working who were extremely welcoming and friendly. We chose the same, roasted ham eggs chips and peas and a small lager. Within a short time the food arrived, piping hot and large portions of ham, great big chips and two eggs. There was a nice atmosphere but most was coming from the outside area where families and friends were having a drink and enjoying the sun,for once. We thought that we would have another small drink,I found a lovely child sized stamped silver ring on the floor next to our table and handed it our waiter who gave it to the booking lady by the phone in case the owner enquires if they had lost it there. I hope they did. Anyway we had a great seat outside and again the atmosphere was special due to the Coronation. Everyone had something to talk about. The waiter brought a dog bowl of cold water for my dog who was in the shade under the table. We stayed a short time and then came back about 3:45 leaving everyone still enjoying the Inn. Lovely local place with good well priced and cooked food and a nice clean 17th pub experience. Worth going to even if just for a drink. Will definitely return...

The photo of the 1 star food hygiene rating I think sums up the review. Nice place quite quiet for a Sunday carvery which was nice food was quite good but and I hence the but, beef was a little dry but nothing out of the ordinary. Then we get to the bad bits. Tables werent clean we had queued for 10 minutes to make sure we were first in so can only assume they werent cleaned over night. Yorkshire puddings were soggy and despite telling them the Pepsi on tap which was only max by the way was running out of syrup or was out and tasted off I was told no it cant be because it was checked 5 minutes ago. Light brown carbonated water 4 times twice so 8 glasses in a pint glass and was told that this was normal. It definitely wasnt normal. I'd rather drink the dirty dish water than those 4 re ordered pints of pepsi. They then continued to argue about the fact it was fine instead of just apologising and offering something else to compensate. Not very good hosting skills. Other than that food was ok. Cabbage was dry where it's not left in water. Odd roast potato was hard where it was undercooked but not to bad. For the quality of food it was definitely over priced. The full quart is 8 pounds per person and it's always perfect. Had 7 people with us and paid a total of 98 pounds and we had 4 pepsi 2 pints of haze and a cheapy j20. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE FULL QUART 5 MINUTES...

Over the years I've visited the Woolpack in from time to time. Where it was a quiet locals pub, run by a Scottish couple, to today where it appears to be very popular. On the surface it's amazing. Great decor. Extended and expanded inside and out. Beautiful. Different spaces for all ages. The place is popular and had a lot of money spent on it. But for me, claustrophobic and hustle bustle. Staff running round with earphones like a small security detail. I'm sure it's great for efficency but adds to adds to my experience of rush, rush, rush. Also the overly attentive staff asking "How's the food?","Would you like another drink?" Added to the feeling of being rushed. This was prior to being told that we only had the table for an hour and a half. Would I go again.. Perhaps! Perfect for when I want limited time with the In-laws. (disclaimer, I love mine). Not so great for a relaxing evening with loved ones. I wouldn't go for a Valentines date. Oh ye, the food. It's not a traditional pub/locals food selection like pie, scampi, steak etc. It has a lot of Greek choices. Though nice, I was confused. After choosing my favourite, Steak, I was more than impressed with how it was cooked. Friends that were with us also loved their choices. Price - £££ Top end of Pub meal prices. Value - ££...
