We had our wedding reception at The Woolpack Inn 27/04/2024.
Where do we even begin, no words will be enough to thank and express how amazing our whole experience has been from start to finish, from the rooms, venue, food, drink, all the staff, planning ect.
Darren, Shannon, Darcy, Dan & team, were second to none, and we couldn’t thank them enough for all their amazing support, professionalism, organisation, attention to detail and attentiveness. We had a vision of what we wanted our day to consist of and look like, and they brought it to life and even more than we could ever imagine.
Shannon is absolutely incredible and what she does, and everything we had thought of or asked for, she ensured was done above and beyond. She made the whole entire process seem completely seamless and nothing was ever an issue. Shannon ensured our entire day ran incredibly smoothly, from the welcome drinks, sitting everyone down, speeches, gifts, first dance, cake cutting and into the evening entertainment until the very end. The little touches meant the most, ensuring when we arrived that we had a few drinks ready and put at our table for us, leaving wedding cake in our room so we could enjoy it at the end of the evening, all the little pieces to put on the table places, or additional bits we added ourselves, she took on herself to arrange and sort, so we didn’t have too on the day.
We stayed in the onsite rooms for 2 nights, and I was very impressed with the size, cleanliness, facilities, presentation, the bed was very comfortable and had I had a great nights sleep. Also, great value for money. Would highly recommend staying here and would stay again.
The venue itself was perfect for our day, we had the entire top floor restaurant and patio area. The restaurant itself has recently been decorated too, along with the patio area, which now has festival style lighting. The venue was perfect sized for our wedding, which was 80 day guests and 150 evening guests. The tables were changed so slightly bigger for the event, along with supplying table clothes, napkins ect. The facilities were faultless.
On the day of the wedding, myself and the bridal party got ready in the stables, which is a fantastic space, large stone, light room, which was great for getting ready in, we enjoyed breakfast platters whilst getting ready, which was a perfect start to our day. We had a range of welcome drinks, 3 course meal, and a hog roast in the evening. The amount of compliments we received from our wedding guests was incredible, everyone was so impressed with the food quality, portion size and taste, and lots of guests saying it was the BEST wedding food they’d ever had, and we couldn’t agree more! Being local, we already knew the food was insane, but was lovely to enjoy it on our wedding day. The hog roast was one of the best I’ve had in a very long time!
All the staff are absolutely incredible, from the managers, chefs, bar staff, waiters/waitresses, housekeeping, they were all so friendly, kind and attentive, and we couldn’t thank you guys enough for making our day perfect, no words will be enough!
Overall, for overnight stays, fab pub grub or events, The Woolpack Inn couldn’t be recommended highly enough.
Thank you again!

Read moreThe Woolpack hosted our wedding reception in April 2025, and we cannot recommend the pub as a reception venue enough. We first got in contact with Shannon, Dan and the team around 18 months before our big day and right from the start they were patient, understanding, friendly and made it clear that they would go above and beyond to make our day perfect. One of the main things we loved about The Woolpack as a wedding venue was the freedom we had to pretty much have anything we wanted. We picked exactly what we wanted for the day time menu, we asked for table service during the meal, and we even requested specific drinks for the day, which the team were more than happy to accommodate. Nothing was too much trouble! Across the multiple planning meetings with Shannon, she shared her advice and knowledge of the pub and the wider industry to make sure everything was planned to perfection. Shannon went above and beyond so many times, including talking to the band (who were recommended by the pub) to organise setting up times, putting slices of the wedding cake in our room so we actually got some the next day, checking in with us regarding the bar tab we’d set up, helping with last minute changes and providing a list of local taxi companies. On the day itself, the food was incredible and we received so many compliments about it. Despite needing to serve more than 40 people, Shannon and the team were organised and everyone got their food in a timely manner. The evening food was freshly made, stonebaked pizzas, which again everyone raved about. We also can’t fault the waiting and bar staff on the day. In the evening, there were more than 100 people in attendance, but the staff behind the bar worked extremely hard and nobody had to wait more than a couple of minutes to get served. They were also friendly and smiley and were joining in with the party by dancing along to the band behind the bar. The rooms and breakfast at The Woolpack are also a great addition. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean and the beds are huge and extremely comfortable. Overall, The Woolpack was the perfect reception venue and the team helped to make our day special beyond words. If you’re looking for a chilled wedding reception venue, The Woolpack is the perfect place for you and we can’t...
Read moreFirst time eating here as an unplanned treat on our way home. 1 of the adults meal of homemade pie and mash was very tasty and child's meal of steak and mash also was fantastic. However the other child's meal which was burger and chips and adults meal of short rib beef with mash was not great at all. The burger was overcooked on the outside, pink inside and gristly so our 4 year old struggled to eat it. It also came in a hard toasted ciabatta style bread not a roll as expected with a burger so he was unable to bite it in one whole piece due to the size. (Not described this way in the menu or we would not have ordered) Also chocolate sundae had dark chocolate nibs and drops not buttons as described so was bitter and had a dry powdery aftertaste which unfortunately again was not what was described on the menu. The adult meal of shortrib was tender however the garlic mash and red wine jus was too salty store than half the meal was left. Someone came to ask as soon as food arrived however we hand not started to eat it yet as one adult and child in toilet. By time they next came 2 of us were done and it was some half hour later we were asked again then if everything was OK to which we advised the person of the above. The lady apologised but no offer was made to replace the meals or alternative offered. Unfortunately catching someone's attention was difficult during the meal as there were 2 people serving/taking orders. If we had been able to get someone's attention we would have said something sooner. A very hit and miss evening with it being 50/50 excellent and very poor. A shame as we do not often eat out as a family due to costs rising and at just over £70 for 2 adult mains, 2 kids meals, a kids desert and 4 soft drinks, it made an impromtu weekday meal disappointing to say the least after hearing mostly...
