As foodies, my wife and I always like to try out new restaurants, so we visited Twenty One during a weekend visiting my family in Leicester.
The venue itself is in a lovely and quiet setting, with easy road access in / out and with ample parking.
The decor in / out, has a modern / contemporary feel to it and there is a nice and spacious outdoor terrace.
Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by personable front of house staff who offered a friendly welcome and handed us over to our hostess for the evening.
Once seated our hostess proceeded to walk us through the varied menu, showing great knowledge of the items on offer.
We ordered various dishes, from starters, through to mains and sides. And a bottle of our favourite NZ Sauvignon Blanc.
We started off with Chicken Seekh Kebabs and the Lamb Chops. Both were served hot and were perfectly seasoned and with just the right amount of spice and flavour. A nice side salad and chutneys added the right touch. A great start to our meal.
The mains arrived in a timely manner and we went for the Green Herb Chicken and the Garlic Chilli Prawns, with a side of Jeera Rice and Tandoori Rotis. All dishes were of the highest quality, tasted fresh, were nicely spiced and served hot, with a nice Indian salad to complement the dishes.
The cocktails looked great and very exciting and there is a varied selection of beers and sprits on offer as well. Our preference is wine with our food and the choice of wines on offer was great and the NZ Sauvignon Blanc we went for, is a perfect pairing for Indian food.
Throughout our dining experience at Twenty One the staff were very attentive and regularly checked in to ensure that we had everything we needed, including additional drinks. The food was exceptional and of the highest quality, in both flavour and taste.
Twenty One provides outstanding value for money in an era where others are cutting corners. I applaud Twenty One for remaining true to the customer.
We would highly recommend on visiting Twenty One, which is already starting to leave a positive mark, in a highly competitive Indian...
Read moreFirst time visit. Let's get honest and to the point!
On arrival the destination is quiet and relaxing. In the middle of a deserted dead end filled with a mini forest of trees and bushes. Plenty of parking.
The restaurant is very tastefully decorated, outside and inside. Clean, trendy and tidy. Tables beautifully presented. We were shown to our table (5 adults), and offered drinks. Great service.
We ordered starters and mains. I've been to most Indian restaurants around Leicester over the years so was quite intrigued.
Starter was a Mixed Grill. Though I HAD to share? As it was a minimum of 2 persons, £10 per person, so basically £20. It came out sizzling on a griddle. It was a regular size, not a large. I could have easily eaten this all to myself. There wasn't enough and I felt it to be over priced. The coftys were well flavoured, but the chicken was bland and over cooked. Lamb chops were a nice touch but they were tiny.
The main I ordered Masala butter chicken with keema naans. The naans were small, but tasty. The curry was poor. It was watery. It had a separate consistency on the surface (not the cream) on arrival that was even more thin. Like water it was transparent. The chicken was well over tender as if cooked in a slow cooker for too long. And the portion was small. I wanted to love it, but the food let it down.
The final blow for me was the price. For 5 people it came to £195.34. We had a basic meal. Nothing extravagant. I had a j20. I couldn't justify the price. Me and my wife attended the 3 Kilns just last week and the final bill was £45 for the 2 of us and we ordered a hell of a lot more, that was cooked to perfection. Without service charge which I find a little naughty.
If the prices were more realistic and the food quality were to increase I'd return. But for now it was a one...
Read moreABSOLUTE RUBBISH Table was booked for 7.45 we were told to wait at the entrance while they get our table ready. We stood at the entrance like we were greeting other customers, which was embarrassing. Keep in mind, I am Leicester born and bred so I am used to Indian restaurants such as paddys and 3kilns which are top tier I didn’t expect this to be up there, but at least close.
FOOD Overpriced for the portion size. We are in Leicester, the quality of Indian food is supposed to be at its highest point I mean they couldn’t even get the chilli chips right let alone anything else I mean, I tried the kebabs, the sheesh kebabs looked undercooked and tasted absolutely horrible. I I was literally biting on onion and garlic like chunks. Please do not go here for starters at all. For the mains, I ordered the railway lamb on the Bone, there was probably about 3 to 4 pieces of lamb in total and again chunks of garlic and chunks of onion,
SERVICE Waitresses were nice, but a little bit hostile, but I think that came from the top. The owner/owners were sat together on a table, pretty much, watching us eat. I have never in my life gone to a normal restaurant and had to pay per head a buffet. Yes, I understand, but a normal restaurant no. They basically gave us an ultimatum of £30 per head just on food which was ridiculous. They were trying to make money just on the food which backfired so do not go there if they say that tell him to do one
VENUE Venue looks nice to spend some money on the interior and the smoking area is beautiful, but it is so cramped my butt was scraping peoples heads while I was trying to get to my seat
By the way, I am not one to complain normally, but this...
