What a lovely hidden gem in Wigton! We were staying at few miles away, at North Lakes Lodges, and discovered "Twisted Willow" cafe. The owners were very welcoming, and so pleasant to chat to. A lovely warm and cosy ambience too, on a rainy afternoon. Calming music was playing, and we relaxed watching the beautiful tropical fish, in their impressive large tank. The menu choices were fantastic, and we took a while to decide what to order, over drinks. Our food was freshly made, beautifully presented, and tasted absolutely delicious. My husband chose the healthy Cypriot all day breakfast, while I ordered the mouth-watering chilli con carne and rice. Oh my! Perfect! One of the owners told us he learned to cook from his Cypriot Mother and Grandmother. Best traditional, family cooking. We were very full.....but of course, we had to leave room for one of their tasty home made cakes! Lots of choice, too, and they all looked amazing. We both decided on the lemon meringue roulade, and it certainly didn't disappoint! In fact we bought the remaining pieces to take away, back to our lodge for tomorrow! We will definitely be back! Thank you for the delicious food, and wonderful...
Read moreI love this beautiful cafe tucked down the side of wigton library. The atmosphere is so relaxing and calm as soon as you walk in. Constantinos greeted us and adked if we were sitting in or taking away and let us know he would come to us. He made sure there was no allergens to be aware of and took our order. I ordered the Halloumi, tomato and pesto ciabatta and a caramel latte while my partner ordered the cheese onion and mustard ciabatta with a halloumi side. The Ciabatta comes with salad which my partner didn't want and instantly regretted once we saw mine. Beautifully presented food, amazing flavours and taste. Halloumi from Cyprus to top it off, I dont even like Halloumi but I would eat 10 more of those Ciabatta any day. The coffee was so good I had to grab an extra one to go. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his food too and we finished lunch...
Read moreIt's probably the worst cafe I've been to. Quiche was too salty and the portion was tiny. That small slice is considered as a main, what a joke. Broccoli soup was watery and bland. Waitress asked how was everything, told her my honest feedback, she just walked away without saying anything. Waiter didnt greet us when we entered, just stared at us as we left, no thank you or goodbye. To conculde, food was bad and overpriced, and the service was poor. Will not return.
Edit: Twisted Willow was the only cafe we visited in Wigton, everything I wrote in this review is genuine, I even provided photos. Don't you accuse me of reviewing the wrong cafe, the experience was so bad that I remember everything clearly during my visit around 2pm...
