I came into the pub and went to the bar. We were told we could sit at any table and to order at the bar, so we did. There were no menus on the table (we were sat in the restaurant area), so had to walk around other tables to find menus. When we knew what we wanted, I went to the bar and it was deserted. I couldn’t find a staff member anywhere. I had to ask a chef who was laying napkins on a table to find a member of bar staff. He found someone and I ordered my food and drink (which came to £55) and I went back to my table. We had no cutlery, sauces or napkins on the table and had to ask the person who bought our food out for cutlery. We asked someone for napkins, they said they’d bring us some and we never saw them again. I had to go and get napkins off another table.
The chips were Luke warm as if they were sat out for ages. No one checked our food was ok during the meal. I went to the bar to ask for the kids desserts to come out and again, there was no staff member to be seen anywhere. The member of bar staff the showed up a short while later and sorted it and brought them out.
He bought the dessert out to our table, which had all our plates on. He left the desserts at the end our table because there was no room on our table and then left without clearing the plates.
He came back about 5 mins later and cleared the plates and asked us how the meal was. I said not great and listed the issues and he said he’d let the kitchen know and that’s the last we heard of it.
The glasses our lemonades came in were dirty and the lemonade smelled as if the pump or line hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. It had a dirty taste.
I feel cheated out of £55. I will absolutely not be coming back to this venue. The table next to us had glasses on it from the time we came in and they were still there by the time we left.
Then to top it all off, my 7 year old son got locked in the toilet cubicle because the lock was so stiff. I had to open it from the outside with a coin.
I wouldn’t have minded so much if it was really busy, but there were a handful of people in the place. The whole visit was...
Read moreUpdate: all of the issues I mentioned in my original review have now been remedied. I now have about four or five main courses to choose between as well as several desserts, sides, and starters! Portions are very generous and the staff are still just as friendly and attentive as before.
Original three star review below:
The food here was fine. I don't think I was that surprised by the quality either way. About what I'd expect.
Disappointed by the lack of vegan options, my fiance and I bought a curry to share and then a couple of sides, so we could sort of make a meal's worth of food out of little bits. The curry was a fairly average size but we found the onion rings and sweet potato fries to be quite small servings.
It was quite strange how a lot of the "add-ons" on the menu (in the burger section or the steaks and grill section) were marked as vegan when there were no vegan meals you could have them with. It would have been nice to see a vegan burger on the menu so that I could have made use of some of the available extras that were advertised, but hopefully that may arrive in the future.
The service was quick though, and the staff were very accommodating of my fiancé's wheelchair, helping him park his power attachment. There was heaps of room for manoeuvring too, which was probably helped by the social distancing measures.
We still ended up enjoying our evening though, even though we were very restricted in terms of our food choices. I don't think I'd choose to come back, unless invited by a friend or group of friends (as we were during our last...
Read moreCame in was greeted by a very friendly waitress who sat me and my daughter down she was very polite excellent with my daughter and sorted her some colouring and spoke to her about it. She then asked about allergies and took our drinks orders and gave us the menus. She was so polite it was like having dinner at a close friend's house and the starters came out very quick but we're really nice my daughter had halloumi sticks and I went for the sticky chicken they were excellent. Then for mains I had the beer battered fish and chips my daughter had the macaroni cheese and garlic bread my daughter ate all of it which must of been good as she ate both courses leaving nothing for a 8 year old thats a big deal the excellent waitress we had made sure I had all the condiments for mine and got me another drink again excellent customer service. We decided to share a pudding as we wanted to try it but were full from our 2 courses we already had so shared the salted caramel and biscoff sundae the lovely waitress grabbed us 2 spoons and joked with my daughter I've put extra biscuit in there as she heard my daughter telling me how much she likes biscoff and she was sharing with dad l. It was really nice and made daughter really happy she was really nice dad my daughter said when we were leaving and asked if we could come back again soon. So I didn't catch her name but I want to say a big thank you and when I return I'd like to leave a tip I didn't have cash on me this time and the card machine didn't give me a option but if I was running a restaurant I'd want you in my...
