While here for a wake i saw many Under-18’s being served without being id’d, I myself am 19, however i didn’t bring ID and didn’t get ID’d once. The police got called while i was there and then service went completely downhill. I had one of my personal possessions confiscated by the staff and they refused to return it, even after leaving, without trying to confront me about it (which is against the law completely, and there were no signs about this fact).
The staff were lovely, I didn’t get their names but the woman was absolutely lovely and the man was calm and patient when explaining the confiscation of my private property, which was upsetting (and still against the law) but the man still dealt with it correctly; whilst the manager was aggressive, dismissive and straight up lied, multiple times to me, my partner and various adults whilst we were there. If it wasn’t for the other members of staff i would have written a much harsher review of this place.
After coming to this place after a funeral service, i expected the manager to be more polite and more patient with everyone involved. However that has been completely ignored and has treated everyone involved terribly.
I never write reviews, like i believe this is the first one i have ever written. But i was that appalled by the state of the entire situation, i felt like it was morally wrong to not alert people to the absolute state that is the Wawne Ferry pub. The new owner has been there for 8 months i believe, and you wouldn’t think that for the way that the customers were being treated.
To end this review, do not go to wawne ferry, there are many better pubs in this city and even in the surrounding area. If you want some suggestions you should go to Robin pub, Salthouse, Lambwath, Whistling Goose. I’ve never even been to The meadows but surely the service cannot be as abysmal as what i...
Read moreA few reasons for low score Firstly I was in there last week and bought a drink Went outside and when I placed my drink on the table, the table was not sturdy & the full drink spilt over
I explained to the landlady what had happened She just said "yeah the tables are like that out there" & wouldnt replace my drink I had to pay for another. It's not my fault the tables aren't sturdy, there was no heads up or sign or nothing & the landlady didn't even say so much as a sorry. I get everything is accounted for but as a good will gesture she could have replaced or at least apologised
Secondly A few weeks ago I won on the bandit but it didn't pay all the money out I was left 19 short I showed barmaid on at the time she witnessed it and advised me to take a pic so i did I was told to come back in to see the boss. I go back in and was told that it hadn't registered and I never seen one penny of that £19 Despite having the photo as proof.
Friendly customers however i feel on many occasions iv been in some bar staff are not very welcoming and frankly a...
Read moreNever had a problem with the pub before however today multiple minors were served with alcohol and only one of them had it confiscated after being seen with it by another member of staff. The staff were hard to get ahold of and as a young person myself I was unsure how to intervene. We held a wake there about three years ago and I am unsure whether the staff have changed, but I would not recommend this pub if you are attending an event with younger people. They will...
