Wheal Coates Tea Room — Restaurant in England

As I write this I am sat in the sun enjoying a lovely Cream Tea.

Now we asked whether you put the jam or the cream first, either is fine at this place but they did say the Cornish way is to put the jam first.

As you can see from my picture we decided to try both. I believe putting the cream first is actually better. It’s easier to spread and the jam is smoother and easier to apply on top whereas putting the jam first the cream tends to stick and lift from the scone.

Arrived late and politely asked if open and informed by owner or more responsible member of staff they were. However, then experienced the utmost rude, surly, resting B face younger member of staff. Declined anything after that attitude! At the end of a beautiful walk, a dog that needed a little rest and I some refreshments... I was met with huffs puffs and a barage of instructions. Stopped here for a short break after walking the Coastal path. Very friendly staff who allowed us to sit inside with our dog. We had afternoon tea for 2 for £9.99. They offer homemade beautiful cakes the size of a house brick. I would have had the Victoria Sponge had I not had the Scone.
