Carvery's can be very much hit and miss at times but this place is very much in the big hit range. We phoned the day before to book a table for three with ease. On arrival covid measures were very apparent in place, confirmed our booking with one of the girls who promptly showed us to our reserved table in the little valley room. Orders for drinks were quick in being taken and delivered. We opted for the Carvery but there is also quite a large menu of choices for set meals. One large and two standards were ordered and came quick and hot. Portions were very good in terms of your meat options, the Lord of darkness asking for more roast potatoes was met with a swift extra tray being brought out. Veg was on a plate with cheese broccoli very nice by the way. Add to some discount for caravan club members on showing your membership card and this place gets a very highly recommended and a return next time we are in the area is assured
Overall, great staff, great food, great price. Just doesn't get any...
Read moreWe drive past this pub all the time so thought we would drop in and have a meal. I rang booked a table and it was a good job I did, it was super busy, this was a Saturday evening at 7pm. There are a few tiny rooms with tables in it and our was in the room that is dog friendly which we quite liked. Our order was taken at the table by a lovely waitress who then also brought our drinks. The menu was great all the usual pub classics and they also have an OAP menu that I was able to order from as I have a small appetite. We ordered a beef lasagne from the OAP menu and a hunters chicken from the usual menu. There was a bit of a wait for the food but they were busy and we knew it was being cooked freshly and wasn't being microwaved! The food was delicious and the portions were big, even on the OAP size meal, we certainly couldn't eat it all. We paid the bill at the bar and was really pleasantly surprised that for 2 meals with 2 pints of coke we paid only £25. We can't wait...
Read moreWe called ahead as a last minute pop in on our way home to make sure we could get some food and they were serving food all day between 12 and 8 (Saturday). The place was exactly what I was looking for with the an old pub feel and good home cooked food! We we able to park right outside the front and chose a corner snug by the bar to sit to eat. The staff were attentive and really friendly and one even gave us a full tour. The place is so beautiful! And much bigger than expected! Be great to visit in the summer. We ordered a tuna panini and the hunters chicken baguette special. The food did not disappoint and the hunters chicken baguette was huge! Crammed full of filling. We really enjoyed our visit and the food was great! Can’t wait to revisit you all and to see the changes following...
