Amato Inn — Restaurant in Epsom and Ewell

It was used to be nice when dining with my colleagues from Atkins. The lunch snack menu was great. However, the latest experience here was awful. Surely one of the receptionist was not entirely honest about the reserved table on a Sunday. Having heard we might be a little bit late due to the heavy traffic on M25, we were told there was no flexibility to reschedule. However, it turned out that there were lots of free tables after arrival. Besides, we were asked to sit on a table outdoors rather than indoors on a really windy day and it seems that it was arranged like that after they were told there was a little one. One of the waitress was also impolite to my father using unprofessional facial expression and body language when no excessive demand was made and even my dad was just waiting at the counter. The burger for the kid was overcooked and bland. The only two highlights were the Siri Lanka curry and a lamb dish that was ordered by my wife. Overall, it was overpriced for sure for the quality and portion of the food as well as some of appalling service last time. We went to the Epsom Grumpy Mole again last night and as always it was absolutely stunning. My Fiance and I had only planned to have a main course and as always when you sit down, take in the lovely atmosphere read the menu and smell all the wonderful food we knew we could not just stay for the 1 course, we had all 3. Each course just tastes better than last! The staff are so helpful and friendly without being intrusive, we have jokes with them and they really add to our evening. Each time we have booked we leave it late so we always end up with a table in the bar area..if you are offered a table in this area, please don't let it put you off as the atmosphere is lovely and certainly not like your average "bar area" I cannot fault this restaraunts, from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave it is quite...

Went here as a large group. Staff took the same drink orders several times, can’t fault the food it was lovely. The restaurant was pretty empty, there was only one other group on a table of 4. Shame about the service though as one of the younger staff members got snappy when asking us if we wanted ice with our drinks (he had one glass without ice and I said I didn’t mind either way) and told us to ‘stick to our orders’. Inappropriate and soured our lunch a bit, haven’t had an issue like this before at this restaurant. Please treat your customers with more respect.
