Rio Grill Epsom — Restaurant in Epsom and Ewell

We visited this restaurant today after a day at Chessington World of Adventures with our kids, as we were looking for a good halal option on the way back. We’re so glad we chose this place! The food was excellent – we ordered the grill mixed platter, which was generous enough to feed three people. The salad, chips, and starters were all fresh and delicious.

The only slight downside was the buttermilk fried chicken burger my son ordered — the chicken piece was quite large and tough, so he didn’t enjoy it as much. That said, everything else was fantastic.

What really stood out was the customer service. From the owner to the cook to the staff, everyone was warm, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel at home. The restaurant was also very clean and well kept, which made the experience even better.

Overall, I’d still give it 5 stars and would happily recommend it to anyone...

I was really disappointed with the service I had today. My sister ordered a mixed shawarma with salad, sauce, pitta and rice included. At first the meal didn’t come and we had to ask for it. Then the meal came without pitta so we asked for it. And then the hot sauce we ordered hadn’t come. We asked for it 3 times and hadn’t received it. And then I went and asked for the rice as I still had not received it. The waitress told me the menu had a mistake and I had to choose either rice or pitta but when taking the order she never mentioned that? We advised them make the change on the menu to make it clearer. I left something in the shop so I came back to get it and I overheard the waitress asking the chef about the rice and he said that it does in fact come with the meal. We moved to Wallington a few months ago but it was the first time we visited Epsom town centre. We had a busy few hours of rushed shopping and saw this place and decided to go in. Haisam and the other staff were warm and welcoming. We ordered the Chicken Shish with rice and the Rio burger meal. The food didn't take long, it was well presented and the portion size was good. As we tucked in, we loved the quality of the food and the flavours. The place is nicely done up and has a great ambience. It was very busy and we saw some of the other dishes which we'll be going back to try! Good value for money and would recommend to family, friends and others.
