Not a pleasant experience in the slightest. Initially seemed positive with a polite staff member seating us during the busy period. But went downhill after that. A man took our order and referenced my intelligence to that lesser than a 5 year old for not understanding the menu and asking a simple question. He was extremely rude and condescending masked by his terrible attempt to banter his way out of even trying to be professional. I ordered the small breakfast minus the black pudding but wasn't offered an alternative item in its place. My partner ordered a cheese and onion omelette. The mushrooms were hard and greasy and inedible and there were a teaspoon of beans on the breakfast. During the meal the staff were heard making nasty remarks and comments about each other and other diners. One bar staff member in particular began slamming things around after a drink had been returned and making comments such as 'she's obviously got no taste' only to later discover that the milkshake mix was possibly not fit for consumption. Lots of eye rolls and sighs came from that area which was shocking behaviour to witness. The absolutely only redeeming factor was the omelette was quite delicious and the decor of the place was very nice. But that's not enough for us to return or recommend
Editing after disgusting response. I certainly was not hard of hearing as we were placed directly near the bar area and i was facing the bar. 3 staff members all smelt the bottle milkshake mix and turned their noses up at it, literally saying and I quote 'that does not smell right'. It's a shame your staff failed to notice that it was only after the encounter with the male server that I became upset. His comments about my intelligence was so rude that he reduced me to tears. Exacting my understanding to that lesser than a 5 year old. I was simply asking where the *additional extra list was as the menu didn't have one. But it was referenced on most dishes. You can try to claim the events didn't happen as they did but I'd expect nothing less after seeing how your staff members operate in your establishment - calling customers and rolling eyes at each other behind...
Read moreVery poor service. A request for a glass of water ( they only supply in bottles, took 12 minutes to arrive at the table. Unable to attract the attention of any member of staff. My bacon sandwich was burnt at the edges. Was not asked by the waitress how I wanted it cooked ! Paid the bill up front, no receipt offered to me. Upon leaving this poorly run establishment I was accused of leaving without paying my bill by a surly member of staff ,who clearly has no customer management training. One star rating is one star too many Zero star rating A reply to the poor service review was issued by Little Kitchen of a sarcastic nature, suggesting I dine at another café/tea room in future and recommending a quicker service of 3 minutes from McDonald's, which is of course not a Tea Room. The statement from LK is that I had mentioned there was a problem with the ice- No such comment has ever been made by me concerning ice cubes, this is pure friction ! Further I was not informed by the waitress that the bacon is burnt at the edges, deliberately . Why did the staff member not inquire how I wanted my bacon to be cooked in the first case. Also I find the food over priced which is why I would recommend a visit to this Tea Room as a plain bacon sandwich should not cost more than £ 4 maximum with this shocking poor service and cramped dinning room ( outside no better) Further I don't like being accused of not paying the bill, when I paid up front. Apparently the staff did their best on the busy Sunday. Good job I didn't attend when they were having...
Read moreWhat a little gem!! We had afternoon tea, (20 of us for a school reunion), and the service was excellent.
Parking is allowed in the Queen's Head car park just across the road.
The staff here are so friendly, attentive, approachable, efficient and very hard working.
The food is not your usual dried up sarnies, they're beautiful ly displayed on a lazy Susan, with speciality pork pies, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, olives, wasabi nuts, vine tomatoes, cheese straws, dip and lots more that I can't remember 😊👍🏻
Then, the beautiful, (what tasted like, home baked), scones with jam and cream, and cakes appeared on a slate platter. There were big slices of Victoria sponge, chocolate cake and much more!
The tea, coffee and milk is constantly refreshed so you're never without a drink for long.
There is a wine bar, after 6pm I think, if you want alcohol. Also, there's a lovely comfy seating area outside when the weather's good.
Beautiful little boxes were supplied to take home any leftovers, and there were plenty of those because you're given so much food!
It's well worth the £15pp we paid and I will definitely be telling all my friends about this fabulous little place. (Vegan and GF are priced at £20pp)
I've added pics but we'd already demolished the cake platter! You can still see some of the lovely cakes though.
This beautiful little place is so cosy and welcoming, it was like home from...
