It's the posh pub in our little village and has a good selection of ale despite being owned solely by Everard's brewery.
We visited for lunch and ordered a veggie pizza and cheese burger and a ham pizza, a pepperoni pizza and a portion chips between 3 children. were delicious
The burger was delicious as was the veggie pizza.y only tiny criticism of the pizza was that it was a little thick. The children though monstered their pizza and chips!
My main criticism is the disabled access and loo. There isn't a disabled loo and access to the normal loo is down a step. Not ideal for people with limited mobility (I use a 4-wheeled walker) and impossible for those in a wheelchair. Access is either via the narrow front door, which just fitted my walker, or via a side door only navigable down some steps and then back up one to get in the pub (it's the same one as with the loos). If you use a wheelchair, I would think you'd struggle. If you're not fully mobile, it's not that welcoming.
The food and drink was good, just a shame about the (lack of) disabled access and facilities.
I'm not sure I can recommend this place despite the food and drink being...
Read moreHaving written to the Queens Head manager via their own website a week ago & not receiving any reply whatsoever, I felt we should share our bad experience now as a review.
We booked a table for 8:30pm for 4 people, Sat 1st July '23 by telephone. Upon arriving at around 8:00pm, we were told the kitchen was closed & they'd run out of food, but nobody had tried to contact us & the bar person seemed very disinterested & dismissive of this situation.
At this time on a Saturday it's impossible to go another pub & eat, ruining our Saturday evening plans.
We have eaten at The Queens Head on many occasions on a Saturday evening & have always enjoyed the food & ambience.
It was the Little Eaton carnival, so busy during the day, but the booking was taken regardless. This 'couldn't care less customer service' seems to be the norm now in the UK, we can blame Covid-19 but pubs just want to do the absolute minimum & wonder why they struggle for business & are forced to close.
We are unlikely to patronising this pub again under the current management & will share our awful experience with our...
Read moreThis was probably the worst meal I have had in a very long time. We went to the Queens Head last night after reading a review in a local magazine however our experience was somewhat different to that of the reviewers. After ordering we were left waiting over 30 minutes and our food still hadn't arrived. When my partner went to the bar to ask what was happening one of the bar staff phoned down to the kitchen to be told our food had been sent up and was waiting in the food lift behind the bar - apparently a green light comes on over the lift when the food has arrived - however the bar staff were too busy talking among themselves to notice the food was there. I don't know how long it had been hanging around but when it was put on the table it was barely warm and after having a few mouthfuls it became too cold to eat. We did complain and the member of staff offered to have the food warmed up but by that time we had to leave. The member of staff said all she could do was apologise but at £27.00 for 2 drinks and 2 inedible meals this wasn't good enough. Certainly won't be going...
