We were very pleased to come across The Black Bull at Folkestone. We've always been big fans of Hungry Horse Pubs, and it was a big surprise to find out there was one in one of our favourite towns. The service, food and general atmosphere were all very good. I opted for a Lamb Keema Stack, which was new to the menu and in true Hungry Horse fashion was quite a marvolous mini mountain of food, it contained a mouthwatering mix of Fries, Samosas, Poppadoms and Lamb Keema Curry!! It was all washed down with a pint or two of San Miguel...very nice!! The staff were all very friendly and the food and drink which was ordered using their app was all brought out promptly. I would definitely recommend this pub and we will definitely come back in the future when we are in the area.

Took my partner there for are one year anniversary and she’s also 34 weeks pregnant and asked when I made the booking if they could make the table a little nicer for us. I don’t know what to expect or if they actually would read it but to mine and my partner’s surprise they did and hand cut out little hearts and put flowers on the table. Big thank you to everyone at the hungry horse the food was amazing will definitely be going back there.

We have stopped here a few times now on our way through. Really a worth to visit. Never experienced such lovely, friendly and caring staff as here. The choice of food and drink is great and we have never been disappointed. The opening hours are fantastic. You always feel welcome here. It is a pleasure to have a break here. Many thanks for the efforts and we are already looking forward to coming back.

Restaurant Review: The Hungry Horse, Black Bull

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Hungry Horse, Black Bull, and I must say it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Food: The menu offers a great variety of dishes to choose from, with something for everyone. I opted for the steak, which was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The portion sizes were generous, and the sides complemented the main dishes beautifully. Whether you're in the mood for classic pub fare or something a bit more adventurous, the kitchen delivers consistently good quality.

Service: The service was efficient and attentive without being intrusive. Our food arrived promptly, and the staff ensured we had everything we needed throughout our meal. I was particularly impressed with how the team managed a busy evening without compromising on the level of service provided.

Staff: The staff at The Hungry Horse, Black Bull were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were happy to make recommendations and went out of their way to ensure that we had a pleasant dining experience. Their professionalism really stood out, making the visit even more enjoyable.

Management: I had the opportunity to meet Wade, the manager, and it’s clear that his leadership has a positive impact on the entire restaurant. Wade was visible throughout the evening, checking in with guests and making sure everything was running smoothly. His approachable and customer-focused attitude really enhances the atmosphere of the place.

Overall, The Hungry Horse, Black Bull is a fantastic spot for a meal out. With great food, excellent service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, it’s definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone looking for a satisfying dining experience. Wade and his team are doing a brilliant job, and I look forward to...

Over the last 2 weeks have visited twice since reopening.

1st time was a reunion meal with ex work colleagues. I can honestly say that all plates went back empty from my table of 6 and our other table ended up with doggy bags (due to drink intake) and eyes too big for their bellies as a lot of food was ordered but I think the mega burgers did them in as so big 😂😂.

Our waitress was Wendy and boy does she work hard making sure we all had what we ordered and making sure everything was fine with us all and so friendly and happy.

Todays visit was an impulse stop for lunch and we was looked after by Sue again very friendly and helpful. Knows the way the menu works to perfection I did have trouble getting internet today so she kindly took our order for us both, again cannot fault the food I had the chicken with bacon / cheese and my mum had the Cod and chips she was quite amused at the way the fish had folded on itself seems to be a regular though as on previous visit my friend had the same shaped cod😂😂

Definitely will be back again as still a lot of choice to work through on the menu so watch out waistline you could be getting bigger.

Well done everyone you are a credit to yourselves and the Company.👏👏👏 take a pat...

Came in with two of my girl friends for food and drinks. we walked in to be greeted by a girl who asked the question “are any of you over 18?” we are aware we look young but was a bit insulting to ask if any of us are over 18 rather than, are you over 18. We then ordered our food. I ordered the cauliflower bites which states it comes with smoky bbq sauce. When it came it was so stodgy and uncooked it made me feel physically sick. The batter was uncooked and covered with sauce to hide the fact it wasn’t cooked we came in just before the kitchen closed so I feel they just threw it on a plate. I then spoke to the waitress to say it was uncooked mushy and the batter was uncooked. I was told that “this is how it comes, there’s nothing I can do” even showing her the uncooked batter. The waitress had short blonde hair and looked overall fed up. I honestly feel so sick after eating a few bites. Very disappointed as been here before and the food was lovely. Not to mention I came all the way from brighton where I study at uni I came to visit my friends and I was charged £5 for this not a fair price for this amount of...
