We visited Curry Garden over the weekend and had a mostly enjoyable experience with some standout dishes, though a few elements fell short. As normal we started with 6 Popadoms Please, which were crisp and flavorful, accompanied by four chutneys, including the often-requested lime pickle! The food was great, ticking most of the boxes in what we look for; the Chicken Tikka Dhansak was up there with some of the nicest we’ve had, with a balance of sweet, sour, and spice. However, the chicken was a bit rubbery, which let the dish down slightly. The Chicken Tikka Masala (Madras Hot), while hitting the right spice level, lacked the depth of flavour we expected from a Tikka Masala, and again, the chicken texture was a bit disappointing. We also ordered the Chicken Korai House Special which was the highlight of the evening. It packed the perfect mix of hot, spicy, and sweet flavours. This lovely dish was a testament to the service. The waiter suggested we try the Special and came back to see how we enjoyed it and explain the origin of how they make the unique dish. The vibe was welcoming and lively, with a good mix of diners filling the space. However, the lighting was a bit too bright for our taste, and the music could have been turned up a notch to really enhance the atmosphere. The toilets appeared to have been recently refurbished and were immaculately clean, leaving very little to complain about. In conclusion, while some dishes fell short, the service and standout moments made it a worthwhile visit. We’d definitely go back. Rating: 4.6 out of 6 Six Poppadoms Please #6PP

Myself and my colleague travel regularly for work, so we know quite well what we like and dislike in terms of a resteraunt. Tonight, we decided upon the curry garden, for lack of many options with a majority of the high street closed. Upon entering, it seems a fairly high quality of service, we were promptly seated, if only as the only diners at the time. After a short wait to browse what seems an overly large amount of choice, the waiter comes and takes our orders. I order the butter chicken, Bombay aloo, and a garlic naan. We wait around 15 maybe 20 minutes to be served, which I find acceptable. When the meals arrived, I was quite surprised to see an off white/ yellow butter chicken. Personally, I find butter chicken is usually an orange, slightly towards a cream tinted orange. The naan was also rather small but thick. When I taste the butter chicken, the only flavour was coconut, no taste of spices at all, rather bland. When asked, the server simply replied butter Chicken should not be spicy but sweet.from both experiences in India, and restraunts up and down the UK, I find this to not be the case, that’s what a korma is for. The Bombay aloo has some flavour, but not much of anything. The naan I found very thick and stodgy, where a good naan is very thin, and easily torn. All in all, we did not have an enjoyable meal, despite the service being to a reasonable standard.

Nice clean and spacious restaurant. The waiter tailored the food to my liking which was welcomed. It wasn't busy on a Tuesday, so service was quick. My food arrived in good time and looked spectacular! I ate all the main and rice too, it was good but not anything special. I understand they're busy on the delivery side, but I found eating food in the restaurant nothing to make a big impression. It was also a little disappointing there wasn't a hot towel or mini chocolate after the meal. I would certainly eat here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice for Indian food in Folkestone.

The Jewel of Tontine – Always Exceeds Expectations!

I’ve been coming to this brilliant Indian restaurant for many years, and it never disappoints! I remember the days when the restaurant was called the ‘Calcutta’ before being renamed ‘The Curry Garden’ (which shows just how long I’ve been attending!) The food is consistently fantastic, with rich flavors and a menu that offers both classic and innovative dishes. Every meal feels like a special experience, thanks to the quality of the ingredients and the skill in the kitchen.

What truly sets this place apart, though, is the staff. Sami and his team are always so friendly and welcoming, going above and beyond to make sure every visit is memorable. Whether it’s accommodating special requests or simply checking in with a warm smile, they create a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere that keeps me coming back and has done for many years.

If you’re looking for a place with amazing food and genuinely caring service, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit! I’ve eaten curry all over the world and there’s no place better. Even the take-away option (special for 2) is brilliant and reasonably priced. Love the place and hopefully will be attending for many...
