We recently stayed at the London & Paris Hotel in Folkestone, and it genuinely exceeded our expectations. The location is fantastic—right by the Harbour Arm, close to the creative quarter, and just steps from the sea. We had a room with a view of the water, and waking up to that peaceful scene was a real treat.||||The hotel has clearly been carefully and tastefully renovated. It felt modern and stylish while still keeping a sense of charm and character. Our room was spotless, the bed was very comfortable, and the attention to detail—like quality linens and thoughtful lighting were a lovely treat.||||Despite being on a main road with a few bars nearby and even below the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was at night. We were able to sleep with the window open and weren’t disturbed at all.||||We also had dinner during our stay and were really impressed by the quality of the food. The menu featured a great selection of locally caught seafood, as well as dishes made with fresh, seasonal produce. Everything we tried was delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented—you can tell they take pride in sourcing and cooking well.||||The breakfast was another highlight—great variety, all freshly prepared, and far beyond the usual buffet setup. It felt relaxed, well-organized, and genuinely delicious.||||Be aware that there’s no lift, so if stairs are an issue, it’s worth checking with the hotel in advance, as it may not be suitable for those with limited mobility.||||Staff were welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived.||||In short, this hotel has boutique style, great service, and a perfect location by the sea. Whether you’re in Folkestone for a stopover before the Channel crossing to Europe, a seaside escape, or exploring the cliffs and coast, we’d absolutely recommend...
Read morePositives: the staff are friendly and approachable. The Harbour Inn pub is a beautiful pub with a lovely wood fire so very cosy and a nice place to get a drink. The views from the room are really nice and there is a big window seat to sit on together and enjoy the views. Good, strong flushing toilet. On the second day, we were offered eggs Benedict or a full English. After a disappointing full English on the first day, we asked if they could make us scrambled eggs, which was surprisingly good.
Negatives: the staff were very helpful and turned off the radiator when requested but the room was still VERY hot. The duvet on the bed was very heavy and much too warm, we couldn’t sleep with it on but it would have been nice to have a lighter duvet option. As it was too cold for no blanket but too hot for a thick, synthetic duvet. The bed is also a bit too small and is not comfortable, too hard and not very stable feeling. Not ideal for a romantic weekend. We had horrible quality sleep both nights and felt very achey, tired and grumpy. There is a green light that cannot be turned off which is disturbing to sleep. The shower is only overhead which makes it very difficult to wash yourself properly and you will get your hair wet even if you don’t want to. A detachable shower head would make things so much easier to reach areas of the body to rinse. The water is also lukewarm. The breakfast took nearly an hour to arrive and was cold on arrival. My partner had shell in their fried egg. There were very few breakfast choices (eggs Benedict or full English) and no menu, you just asked what you could have which was quite awkward. The breakfast was very rich yet not that flavourful. The coffee has very little flavour. Lastly, not much sound proofing, disturbances of noises throughout...

I visited your restaurant this afternoon, my immediate reaction when i sat down was an odour of musty dampness which i continued to smell tbroughout my dining experience. It was not until after my meal that i noticed behind my chair (please see attached photos ) not pleasant to be honest.
My friend and i ordered the 1st white wine on the list @ £30 on ordering the waitress referred to the wine as " oh the house white! " It did not state that it was a house white wine and at £30 i felt that would have been quite steep.
Usually in Folkestone restaurants i choose a Chablis which generally i pay £45 upwards ,so was quite astonished that your Chablis was priced @ £60!
With reference to the food, my friend ordered the large plate roast beef @ £24 again very expensive for a roast ,i ordered the Hake accompanied with new pototoes on the side ( would have preferred the potatoes a little more cooked ) i originally would have like the Mussels but was informed you did not serve french fries with them and i felt new potatoes were not quite right to accompany the meal! Hope you can appreciate that.
We both enjoyed the food we ate so i would not complain about that and we gave a 10% service charge out of politeness ,but my whole ambience of the damp musty smell has definately put me of from returning, i felt the restaurant did not have the quality of style that reflected on your pricing,if you want to be upmarket then this needs to be addressed.
I am emailing this as i am diasapponted but it is not in my nature to give bad feedback on any social reviews .
Kind regards
I received no response to email sent three days ago, totally ignored so...
