Gill's Fish and Chips — Restaurant in Gateshead

Just been to Gills Fish and chip shop Dunston for the first time, it will definitely be our last, thought we would try it after a family’s recommendation after work, we ordered a chicken tikka wrap, small Donner and salad, chips and some sauces we got home and we got … the wrap, chips and sauces, so I rang and asked if they would deliver it as they do just eat so they will obviously have drivers and they refused as it’s different 🤷🏻‍♀️ I asked to get one of the many staff to drop it off he’s said no one drives, then I said get a taxi to drop it off he said no, so if I want the food I ordered, waited and paid for I had to come all the way down and they would give me the order I wanted in the first place, I asked for a refund, he said what for? I mean come on what kind of customer service? He said you want your money give me the food… he got his food, lost a sale, lost a customer, to make it worse if it was nice we would of been regular but no! So got my refund! The only plus side is that we tried another shop called Robs Fish Bar which was lovely, all the food was there, staff where lovely and friendly will 100% go back to Robs, never again will we go...

Ordered 8 meals at 11:45 for collection at 1pm. When I arrived the order was not ready and had to wait another 25 mins. Shop was very busy with lots of people waiting for orders. I was due back at work at 1:20 and this ran well over the time I was due back. Not only that but the fish that was ordered didn't taste like cod at all, The plain donner kebab had flecks of Red in it clearly from cross contamination from Tikka Kebab, A kebab wrap was ordered without any red cabbage and it came without any cabbage at all, The cheesy chips that were ordered were supposed to come with a small garlic sauce but instead lots of it was poured over the chips. This is the first time I have used this place and it was on recommendation. We will not be ordering again We spent well over £30 on this order. We would have expected an order placed before 12 for collection at 1 to have been ready without any issues at all and not an additional 25 minute wait. Ordered from here many times, we always get the same order. However last night we ordered a small chilli sauce and was given a small garlic (I can’t eat garlic as it makes me sick. I’m allergic) we went straight back into the shop once we noticed and asked to have our order which was chilli, the woman went over to the sauce station with another colleague and started talking (obviously telling her to just give us the garlic back and hide the fact she wasn’t actually getting our chilli sauce) we thought we were given our chilli and walked out. When we got home we realised we were just given back the garlic which we didn’t order in the first place!!! YOU MUST ALWAYS THINK OF CUSTOMERS AND ALLERGIES!!!! This isn’t the first times it’s happens either, but it’s the first time we complained before we got home so we could have it corrected. Or at least we thought it would be. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BE GOING BACK NOW!!! IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES OR ATLEAST WANT YOUR PROPER ORDER PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE TO A PLACE THAT ACTUALLY CARES AND THINKS ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO PAYING FOR...
