Today (14.06.22) 5 of us visited Miller & Carter Sherwood Forest (Mansfield Road) for my mother's birthday. We had a table booked for 13.30pm.

The entrance was at the front. Access was all flat. Disabled parking was at the front and further parking was at the rear. Outside seating was to the rear. The toilets were all clean and there was a disabled toilet.

On my husband and mines arrival we were met by a nice man who I explained my father had dementia and we would appreciate being seated out the way more if appropriate. He said no problem and showed us to our table at the back of the restaurant near the windows with no one behind us which was ideal.

The restaurant is decorated in deep reds and dark wood that reminded me of a typical steak house but the walls were fresh and pops of art work throughout made it interesting.Ā  All tables were set and clean which was a good start.

Our waitress Heidi was introduced to us and offered to fetch us drinks whilst we waited for my parents and cousin. Heidi was extremely polite, well presented and attentive but not over the top. She was knowledgeable, kind and friendly. She also checked for dietaryĀ requirements or allergies which was nice to hear.

I had a pint of Guinness and blackcurrant £4.95 and my husband had a Peroni £5.65 both were fantastic pints.

My parents and cousin arrived and were shown over to us and Heidi was soon over to take their drinks order. My father had a pint of IPA £5.60, my cousin had a voucher for a glass of red wine from a newsletter which was taken off the bill. My mother had a free alcohol free cocktail for her birthday which was very nice.

We had decided that we were going to have the lunch set menu 2 course for £12.50 and 3 course for £15.50. Starters were ordered there was only 3 to choose from but between us we had them all. 2 x Baked cheddar mushrooms, smoked mackerel pate and 2 x chargrilled chorizo. We also ordered our mains. Everyone had decided to pay the £3 supplement and have a 7oz steak. 4 with chips and 1 with salad. It was served pink with a grilled tomato and onion loaf. You could have had a choice of sweet potato fries, potatos, chips, salad etc. We had an extra of peppercorn sauce £1.95 and a side salad £3.75 (which in my opinion was a little expensive for a very small bowl of side salad)

Anyway starters swiftly came, smelling lovely and all was good, very tasty and put us in the mood for the mains. The table was cleared promptly but we didn't feel rushed. The cutlery was replaced and steak knives were brought out. The mains arrived all looking beautiful - no issues at all. Some people said they didn't have room for a sweet but 3 did so we ordered 2 x salted caramel profiteroles and 1 x mixed ice cream and cookie all were a lovely finish to the meal.

Heidi and the manager then came over with a plate with a piece of brownie, happy birthday written on it and a candle singing happy birthday to my mother which was a lovely touch. Thank you.

During the meal my father, husband and I had a few more pints and enjoyed every one! The total bill for 5 of us including 6 pints was £124 which I dont consider to be over the top.

On the whole as a first experience of Miller & Carter I would say it was a very positive one and we would definitely be...

Went with our grandson as it was his birthday. The service from front of house staff was outstanding,Mihai in particular made sure we were all looked after admirably. The food was 1st class and the atmosphere was convivial . The other front of house staff were also very attentive they really are a GREAT team, and this during a busy lunchtime. To top it all the staff came to the table and sang happy birthday to our grandson and brought him a dessert with candles in. A perfect meal cooked by chef Ella, and perfect front of house staff in lovely surroundings. Perfection! UPDATE September 3 2025 A party of 9.Another birthday! The place as Just been revamped it’s like they’ve crammed as many tables into the area as possible. We booked for an evening meal. The staff as is usual were wonderful and welcoming especially Amy who looked after us and was run off her feet keeping many diners happy, she deserves a medal, I’ve never seen staff so busy and not just Amy either. Perhaps too many tables to conveniently service? The lettuce salad needs redesigning as a quarter of an uncut iceberg lettuce in a bowl with a squirt of garlic mayo is not pleasing to the eye, or the palate, it’s an absolute monster to try and eat it as well.🫣 My steak was full of gristle I had to discretely transfer from my mouth to a napkin as I couldn’t even swallow it. Alas the chicken wings were also black on the outside and raw in the centre even my grandson whose nickname is the hoover wouldn’t eat the chicken wings. I think that perhaps the chefs were inundated with too many orders and perhaps found it hard to cope? Teething problems maybe but there was no excuse for giving us desert spoons when the second spoon down was still half full of someone else’s dessert🤢 We really like this place but now it’s so noisy as people are crammed too close together. The staff are OUTSTANDING but on this occasion the food apart from a Pavlova which was an absolute work of art and tasted as good as it looked let the...

They say ā€œThe Best Steakhouse in the Houseā€. We did the Miller & Steakhouse experience this weekend and here’s my thoughts. Located in Nottingham off Jct 27. Great location, set back but you can’t miss it. Ample free parking too šŸ…æļø. On entrance you do get a very friendly welcome and the foyer/entrance area is warm and welcoming with a relaxed ambiance whilst waiting for other guests to arrive. A bar area to experiment some of their drinks. Once we were seated and given a menu each, it can be quite overwhelming, however, our Server Kirsty explained how things worked, she was great. Very patient, informative and also advised as to what to have and how. A great Waitress. 10/10. I found they were quite limited on Rum and Liqueurs, but no issue there. We then gave our food and drinks order in. The drinks arrived in good time followed by the food. This was the first time I had a 12oz steak, I’d probably stick to 8oz next time. Verdict? The Food was fabulous! We loved our experience. Thank you. Saying that, we did find the steaks were quite fatty - if you’re not into the fat it does go to waste. All in all a great experience. Would we go again? Probably Not. As an avid cook who loves cooking steaks, I do enjoy mine more, without the hefty price tag. šŸ„ 🄩 After the meals the dessert menu was provided. A great menu. Fantastic portions, so if you love dessert leave yourself some space. šŸØ As we were celebrating an engagement, Miller and Carter provided some great desserts for our friends too. FOC. What you pay for with Miller and Carter is the not the steaks but the experience, bear that in mind. The experience was wonderful, the service, smiles and ambiance were fantastic and the company was the highlight. The Bill for 4 people came to Ā£220. Another thing to consider when you go, it’s more than the average restaurant. All in all, Thank you for the Miller and Carter...
