I have been going here for several years and have always had a great experience (I do want to clarify the staff have always been polite and friendly), however, yesterday I left feeling a bit shafted.
Previously someone would take your order at the table and you pay after whereas now you go up to make your order and pay up front; this I don't have an issue with, what I do have an issue with is sneakily having a service charged added on my bill!
The person at the till said "does everything look okay to you"; but this tactic makes people awkward and just end up paying as most people do.
This is also ILLEGAL. You have to clearly state to the customer if there is a service charge and whether this is voluntary or mandatory before the meal; instead it's a "hope the customer doesn't notice" or feel too awkward to point it out.
If you're asking for a tip this should be optional after the food when paying not before; especially when someone doesn't even take your order.
Another complaint is that the breakfasts are set in stone; you can't swap out anything if you don't like something; you have to just remove it then pay extra for something else.
Why not make an option where you can just build your own breakfast?
Lastly, I ordered some additional crumpets and half of it was soggy and the other half rock solid (this I did mention and got a refund). This was actually the first time I have ever had an issue with the food.
So to breakdown my experience: I had to go up to order; I had to pay the same for the breakfast despite removing the two bacon; got charged a service charge then got served awful crumpets. Doesn't sound like a good experience, does it?

Went here after a walk along the beach and was pleased with my visit.
There was a good choice of breakfast which made it hard to choose, but when I eventually did, I was really impressed with the quality of food.
My friend also loved their breakfast.
Top-notch, would definitely...
ย ย ย Read moreavoid the gluten free or vegan food. they have no understanding of food intolerance or cross contamination. ordered a gluten free breakfast, questioned the server when it arrived that it was gluten free and was assured it was. started eating then my friends normal toast turned up and was the same as mine. called the server back and she went off to the kitchen and came back and admitted my breakfast wasn't gluten free! The ticket that went to the kitchen stated gluten free . Was offered another breakfast but didn't trust the food and needed to throw up the poisonous one. asked for the manager then went off to the bathroom to bring up what I'd just eaten before it hit my stomach including my hot chocolate. bit extreme but I'm a severely intollerant refractory celiac and any gluten can cause a major flare up and last months. the manager briefly spoke to my friend who didn't have the problem but not me. I then went to find the manager after the bathroom incident. Her attitude and lack of knowledge and care about food intollerances and cross contamination was appalling and the chefs! Best ones were "well most of the breakfast was gluten free"! just not the toast on top of the breakfast I ate and contaminating all the food. the food prep wouldn't of been free of cross contamination either. " the hash browns are gluten free" but when asked if they're fried in a fryer with other things the answer was yes! Best one was " some people are gluten free by choice so it wouldn't of hurt" totally shocked at the ignorance to food intolerance the lack of care to serve safe food. I got my breakfast refunded but not my hot chocolate that is down their loo! An apology whilst giving attitude and rolling eyes! Have the kitchen ticket that says gluten free breakfast. has been reported to the...
ย ย ย Read moreI do not want any bonus points, thankyou. Accessible toilet was occupied, so I had to use the small cubicle. There was a big puddle of urine on the floor, which I could do nothing about, as there was no toilet tissue in the receptacle, either for that purpose, or for my personal use. Being 75 years of age, using the toilet is often a matter of urgency for me, so I felt I would have insufficient time to report the issue until after I had relieved myself. Having done this, I turned on the tap to wash my hands, but it was not possible to obtain any soap, since, on my attempt to do so, its wall - dispenser fell apart. I spoke to a staff member, who said that she would tell the manager. After about five minutes, I saw her go into the toilet with a roll of toilet paper, but saw no evidence of any intention to mop the floor. When I had waited at least another five minutes for the manager, ( even though there were very few clients to be attended to ), she sauntered up to me & proceeded to address me as if my complaint was totally unreasonable. I would have been satisfied if she had offered me a free drink or an ice cream, but no such offer was made, so I suggested that it would be appropriate as a small compensation. She very grudgingly agreed to it, but continued to deny all responsibility for the condition of the toilet facilities, claiming insistently that they are regularly inspected, cleaned & restocked, & blaming the problem on " a customer (who) must have been in there only a minute before (myself) ". I don't remember seeing a cleaning rota on display in the toilet cubicle, & even when I left at the end of about twenty minutes in all, there was still no sign of any staff entering the toilet area with any cleaning equipment. At no point was I given so much as a hint...
