This was our first visit on a busy Sunday for lunch. It is a lovely location and we sat indoors as there were no free tables with shade in the garden. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad (ยฃ10.95). I was disappointed with the portion size, a miserly helping of lettuce, and the chicken was a few slices of what looked like sliced chicken from a packet and had been fried/grilled to give it a bit of colour but had dried it out. The anchovies were the salted variety rather than marinated and are too strong for a salad. The croutons were soft and greasy. I told the waitress that I wasnโ€™t happy and she rather grudgingly took the plate back to the kitchen and returned with additional slices of chicken and a little more lettuce. When I paid the bill and commented to another member of staff about my dissatisfaction, the waitress who had served us told me I had received the correct portion size. I had a chicken Caesar salad at a cafe in Lee-on-the-Solent last week and it was a more generous portion size for a similar price and contained better quality ingredients. What saddened me the most was the attitude of the staff making me feel that I was being unreasonable. My husband had ham, egg and chips and he was happy with his meal although I expected the ham to be hand carved rather than from a packet.

A lovely place to stop for a bite next to the beach. The staff are really lovely and attentive. When we visited there was a problem with a delivery so they were quickly running out of food but still remained friendly and upbeat where most servers would start getting flustered. Dog friendly, disabled friendly, outside and inside seating and huge open doors so you can still smell that sweet sea air. Plenty of parking but you do have to pay so add this to your expected budget when visiting. The food was amazing and I just wished I ordered the fish as it was brought out my jaw dropped it looked scrummy! The only mark down would be the milkshakes I ordered a strawberry and although it had ice-cream in it it was extremely watery and lacking in flavour which is ok but doesn't really justify the cost I was expecting a strong thick American style shake and the salad was a bit too chopped up and mixed it was hard to identify the flavours. Overall a 4.8 out of 5 thanks for a lovely meal

We had 2 small bayside breakfasts and two lattes. Cost ยฃ34. Positives. Great location Plenty of parking (paid for using Mii Parking app) Plenty of tables Outdoor and indoor seating during summer Staff are generally friendly and keep busy The food is mostly nice The coffee is great Negatives It's up there with the more ยฃยฃยฃ The cutlery is shockingly cheap metal and sharp to hold. As a raynaud's sufferer, I will definitely take my own cutlery next time. They add a 10% service charge to total bill. I would gladly leave it as a tip for the server (but it should not be compulsory on the bill). Dogs barking and yapping at each other inside. Dogs outside is much nicer for the dog as well as other diners.

I have been going here for several years and have always had a great experience (I do want to clarify the staff have always been polite and friendly), however, yesterday I left feeling a bit shafted.

Previously someone would take your order at the table and you pay after whereas now you go up to make your order and pay up front; this I don't have an issue with, what I do have an issue with is sneakily having a service charged added on my bill!

The person at the till said "does everything look okay to you"; but this tactic makes people awkward and just end up paying as most people do.

This is also ILLEGAL. You have to clearly state to the customer if there is a service charge and whether this is voluntary or mandatory before the meal; instead it's a "hope the customer doesn't notice" or feel too awkward to point it out.

If you're asking for a tip this should be optional after the food when paying not before; especially when someone doesn't even take your order.

Another complaint is that the breakfasts are set in stone; you can't swap out anything if you don't like something; you have to just remove it then pay extra for something else.

Why not make an option where you can just build your own breakfast?

Lastly, I ordered some additional crumpets and half of it was soggy and the other half rock solid (this I did mention and got a refund). This was actually the first time I have ever had an issue with the food.

So to breakdown my experience: I had to go up to order; I had to pay the same for the breakfast despite removing the two bacon; got charged a service charge then got served awful crumpets. Doesn't sound like a good experience, does it?

Went here after a walk along the beach and was pleased with my visit.

There was a good choice of breakfast which made it hard to choose, but when I eventually did, I was really impressed with the quality of food.

My friend also loved their breakfast.

Top-notch, would definitely...

avoid the gluten free or vegan food. they have no understanding of food intolerance or cross contamination. ordered a gluten free breakfast, questioned the server when it arrived that it was gluten free and was assured it was. started eating then my friends normal toast turned up and was the same as mine. called the server back and she went off to the kitchen and came back and admitted my breakfast wasn't gluten free! The ticket that went to the kitchen stated gluten free . Was offered another breakfast but didn't trust the food and needed to throw up the poisonous one. asked for the manager then went off to the bathroom to bring up what I'd just eaten before it hit my stomach including my hot chocolate. bit extreme but I'm a severely intollerant refractory celiac and any gluten can cause a major flare up and last months. the manager briefly spoke to my friend who didn't have the problem but not me. I then went to find the manager after the bathroom incident. Her attitude and lack of knowledge and care about food intollerances and cross contamination was appalling and the chefs! Best ones were "well most of the breakfast was gluten free"! just not the toast on top of the breakfast I ate and contaminating all the food. the food prep wouldn't of been free of cross contamination either. " the hash browns are gluten free" but when asked if they're fried in a fryer with other things the answer was yes! Best one was " some people are gluten free by choice so it wouldn't of hurt" totally shocked at the ignorance to food intolerance the lack of care to serve safe food. I got my breakfast refunded but not my hot chocolate that is down their loo! An apology whilst giving attitude and rolling eyes! Have the kitchen ticket that says gluten free breakfast. has been reported to the...

I do not want any bonus points, thankyou. Accessible toilet was occupied, so I had to use the small cubicle. There was a big puddle of urine on the floor, which I could do nothing about, as there was no toilet tissue in the receptacle, either for that purpose, or for my personal use. Being 75 years of age, using the toilet is often a matter of urgency for me, so I felt I would have insufficient time to report the issue until after I had relieved myself. Having done this, I turned on the tap to wash my hands, but it was not possible to obtain any soap, since, on my attempt to do so, its wall - dispenser fell apart. I spoke to a staff member, who said that she would tell the manager. After about five minutes, I saw her go into the toilet with a roll of toilet paper, but saw no evidence of any intention to mop the floor. When I had waited at least another five minutes for the manager, ( even though there were very few clients to be attended to ), she sauntered up to me & proceeded to address me as if my complaint was totally unreasonable. I would have been satisfied if she had offered me a free drink or an ice cream, but no such offer was made, so I suggested that it would be appropriate as a small compensation. She very grudgingly agreed to it, but continued to deny all responsibility for the condition of the toilet facilities, claiming insistently that they are regularly inspected, cleaned & restocked, & blaming the problem on " a customer (who) must have been in there only a minute before (myself) ". I don't remember seeing a cleaning rota on display in the toilet cubicle, & even when I left at the end of about twenty minutes in all, there was still no sign of any staff entering the toilet area with any cleaning equipment. At no point was I given so much as a hint...
