Arrived and seated quickly, place looked tired and dirty. Lots of staining on the wood floors, our booth seating was all ripped and again stains on the ceiling. We made our order, I was going to go for the chicken skewers but was told that they were unavailable so I went for the 'dirty chicken burger'. We we up for salad and refillable drinks, half the salad options were empty and no olives. The ice machine was out of order and the ice bucket that had been put out as a replacement was empty. No diet pepsi or apple tango. We waited around 35 minutes for our food, my mum ordered her steak medium to well done but it came out like charcoal and my chicken burger was a sloppy mess of hash brown and onion rings, the chicken burgers were barely warm despite the plate being hotter than the sun. Almost like it had been sitting under the hot lamps for half an hour. 🤔 Once finished we waited for around half an hour for out plates to be cleared even then they one took half away. We asked for our bill, paid and
The staff looked tired and unenthusiastic even tho there were maybe less that ten tables dining. Having visited in the past many times the whole restaurant seems to have gone down hill - the service was terrible, the whole place looked grotty and poorly maintained inside and out. The toilets had piss on the floors and stank. They had been checked according to the sheet on the wall less that half an hour...
Read moreMy mother and I went here for mother's day, and had a decent time. It was of course very busy, but still found that my waitresses were engaged, attentive and helpful when it came to ordering etc. They didn't look frazzled, flustered or overwhelmed.
Food is reasonly priced. They did have a new menu and so now everything listed comes with calorie count on the side 👀 really eye opening seeing the calories in food. The menu does try to cater to all dietary requirements and much as they can I think.
We headed to the salad bar where a host was ready to serve us what we chose, we were told this is not COVID reasons but more so to minimise waste which is understandable.
I opted for three stack chicken and mum opted for mixed grill which was really a huge man size plate. It was nice, but she had to get a doggie bag to take away food she couldn't eat. I went for a apple and blackberry crumble, which was okay, but far too much sauce and not enough crumble to match. It was a bit soup like and left some of it after eating crumble part.
I would only say that the cutlery needs a polish and glasses need to be properly cleaned. They look so cloudy and a bit dirty. Apart from that, it was a decent visit...
Read moreHaven't been to a Harvester in about 20 years. Now I remember why.
Exterior looks really nice, the interior not so much but Harvester is a glorified pub after all so you know what you're getting.
Service was really good. Our waitress was lovely but ultimately you go to Harvester to eat and that's where the issue is.
I went on Harvester's website before going and the menu and the images looked so alluring. I thought "Wow! They've really upped their game. We should try it out".
Now I know there is always a difference between marketing material and what you get but this was a chasm. No disrespect to Iceland but I have had better food out of their fridges.
Everything we ate was in school dinner territory. In fact they should just buy stuff from Iceland it would be an upgrade.
All of the sauces were awful. They were the cheapest possible version of the cheapest possible version and yet somehow they were all empty.
The steak was passable, everything was bad. Even the chips. CHIPS! How many black cats does one have to run over to not be able to get chips right?
I feel bad writing this because the staff were so nice and helpful but £80 was way to much for two people...
