Thoroughly looked forward to visiting AllanWater Brewhouse, (popped in on Wednesday 23rd) We are huge fans of micro breweries & pubs and much prefer to support local independent pubs & breweries. However, As soon as we walked in the door we were confronted, (also shocked & saddened) to see fish incarcerated in 2 VERTICAL fish tanks measuring approximately 6â x 6â x 3ft tall ! It made my wife & I feel quite ill. Who, in theyâre right mind would admire such beautiful creatures so much then, think its a good idea to place them in a VERTICAL glass tube for the rest of their miserable lives ? In their natural environment fish will swim for thousands of miles in ALL directions not, forced to float up & down in an ultra-confined space. In this day & age, of, encouraging better understanding of our environment & animal welfare, thereâs no place for this sort of spectacle. It shouldnât be shown in a public house or, anywhere for that matter, we are no longer in the 1970âs ! I understand that the fish in question wouldnât now survive in their natural environment but please, place them into a much LARGER HORIZONTAL tank at least. As for your beer, yes, it was drinkable and staff were friendly enough but We didnât stop for another. Only 2 stars iâm afraid as we werenât fans of a certain aspect of ...

Which I did today! Set off from my door at 6 in the am. Navigated my way across the Ochils with the solid aim of walking in at 2pm,which I accomplished! Limping down the high street I could see the board beckoning me, enticing me ever forward to my well deserved nectar! My prize? A piece of paper on the door telling me that it was closed! On a Saturday! In absolutely amazing weather! People milling about everywhere! Summer vibes in may! Yet the door was firmly shut! Locked! My passage blocked! This far, no further! The westerton got my business! So...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed the night in the car park in our motorhome. Douglas and his team were SO friendly and welcoming. The pub decoration full of memorabilia and open fire made for a fabulous atmosphere. We ate delicious pizzas and sampled all the beers. It was an open mic night so we were treated to the most amazing entertainment for the evening (the pub was full). When we came to leave, everyone in the pub joined in with freindly goodbyes - we felt so welcome! We live in Cambridge so a return visit won't be easy, but we do hope to come back. Thank you Douglas and the team; you...
