The only thing thats deluxe is the price!!||||Having stayed with you twice before in the livet room we were excited to see a deluxe room was available and booked straight away with booking.com at a cost of £144. We thought deluxe will be amazing as the livet was branded as economy. This was a little treat for me from my husband and we were so excited as we have been precious patrons we've recommended you to so many people and have come up and stayed with friends.||Friday arrives and we check in and we were astounded at the poor standard of the room sloping floor light fittings not working and don't get me started on the dingy green carpet scuffs on the wall and 1980s furniture, then to top it off there's a skip right outside the bedroom window.||Having had a couple of glasses of wine we thought oh well the bedding is clean albeit on the smallest bed we've ever seen in a hotel. We headed down for a table for dinner we'd rung ahead and said 7:30 for dinner we then had to stand in the middle of a stuffy restaurant whilst the staff scrambled to clean a table. Eventually sat down and we ordered, drinks came swiftly and that's where it ended to be honest, we ordered the sharing started with olives, hummus etc we waited 50 minutes for that, eventually asked as nothing on this needed to be cooked the waiting staff man who was lovely I might add was surprised we hadn't had it. It then arrives oh sorry there's no hummus as advertised, my husband doesn't like salmon pate but at this point we were starving, this was on the back end of me trying to order the lasangne that wasn't available. When this starter arrived none of it was cold the pate and cheese were room temperature.||We had a little wait for the mains I ordered the quesadilla which I could have made myself and that was dry and lacklustre. Husbands pie crust was burnt, what a complete let down and to have to go back to that horrible room was the final straw, we slept terrible the heating pumping out we couldn't turn it off the window was fully open. The only deluxe thing about that room is the price!!||Beyond shocked and at check out we weren't asked if everything was ok and even said oh the deluxe room £144!!!!||||It's even worse now reading the reviews on trip advisor from august 2023 with the exact same issues with that room! We have contacted the hotel and we have...
Read moreWe visited the Cairn on Wednesday eve after being recommended by a local. The bar staff and waitress were friendly and the pub itself was cosy. We had the haggis bonbons and the soup for starters both were quite nice. For the main we ordered the chicken burger and the haggis lasagne. This was where we were let down. Our mains were accidentally given to the wrong table across from us and left there for a while before the mistake was realised then taken back to the kitchen and then the same plates fetched out 30 seconds later, and given to us as if nothing had happened. The policy on plate touching contamination really should be better in covid times and left us really disappointed, they should have at the very least explained the situation and asked if it was ok with us. It just felt really dishonest and unsanitary, you really dont want to pay for a meal that someone else has touched and had at their table!
We ordered desserts and they were just awful, the pecan pie was stone cold soft pastry with a couple of millimetres of soggy filling and the crumble was just stewed apple with ground almonds on top, both overpriced for what thet were. Very disappointing visit, I wouldn't recommend based on...

Had a small single room in the attic which fitted my needs with a double bed, though it was a little too soft for my preference, and a stand in shower, though the door on it didn't fully close, making it a little cramped. In addition, the handle on the rooms door was busted and made it hard to turn.
However, there was free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water and even a chocolate bar on arrival. TV with great reception and great WiFi.
In the evening I had a nice stuffed chicken breast with roast carrots that was lovingly presented, and a Scottish take on an afogato with honey whisky which really nade the taste incredible.
Breakfast was included in the price and it was a nice typical British and Scottish selection.
Met several members of staff throughout my time there, all of whom were very friendly and helpful, especially the person I assumed was the manager who was able to help me with a few issues.
There is also a Spar just down the road if you need supplies.
Overall, it's a nice place to stay for the price, though I feel the room could have used some light...
