We had dinner and breakfast twice here as part of our package at the Manor House hotel.
Great service. The right level of attentiveness whilst letting you have a quiet meal.
We had the three course menu. Starters and mains faultless. Great choice, from classics with a twist.
Second night we had the tomahawk with the supplement. Worth EVERY penny. One of the best steaks we have had in a long time with beautiful potatoes and well cooked greens.
Wine list caters for all and is reasonably priced. (Decent bottles for under £30). Service charge of 10% goes to all staff too.
The bar staff made excellent cocktails too.
Only complaint was the music in the restaurant was a little loud and didn’t fit the surroundings. (Modern chart music in a rustic period building)
Would recommend and complimented the hotel stay perfectly.
(Food pictures. Prawn cocktail and Bloody Mary sorbet. Miso beef short rib. Pork loin and cheek, tomahawk and sides, Ferrero rocher cheesecake and sticky toffee...

Ok I only ordered burger and chips but sometimes you fancy something simple and sounded really good from menu…and for £16.50 I expected it to be. Firstly it was literally a burger in a bun and chips - not even a token side salad. There was supposed to be cheddar cheese in the burger - if there was any I couldn’t detect it. Most importantly, the burger was massively overdone and completely dry. Massive disappointment, would not return. Shame as the...
Read moreWe have just left Stables Bar and Grill after having lunch as a party of 3 adults and 2 children. Before ordering I asked if there was a children's roast available for our 8 year old. We were told there was a smaller portion available for children but what was brought, and charged £11 for, was the smaller adult portion. Our daughter was only able to eat half of the meal. I had the same meal and couldn't finish it either. We were also shocked at the charge of £6.30 for two glasses of lemonade, which were not listed on the menu for us to have seen how exorbitantly priced they were. The food that we had was tasty, and the service quick, but the Stables does not cater for children and is...
