I'm glad we went to the Southgate while staying in Bishopston, not far to drive and the food was mostly ok, I do feel that for some reason the front of house staff don't cope well when it's busy, orders can get confused easily and even things missed off, I did appreciate the chef coming to speak to me when there was an issue, I must compliment the whitebait and the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best we have had, on the whole I would recommend.

We stopped here for a light bite and a drink after walking around. A lovely girl served us, she was coping by herself and did an amazing job. Our friends ordered, salt and pepper squid, garlic bread and breaded mushrooms, we had cauliflower wing bites, chicken goujons and cheese chips, absolutely gorgeous, pipping hot, tasty, crispy coatings, cheddar cheese, dips, would try anything from the menu based on this, all sounds delicious.

Called there yesterday for Sunday lunch with my family, the food was excellent value for money. Was hot and loads of it. The waitresses were so polite and helpful too. Couldn't ask for more. It's a real shame that some other establishments in the area aren't pulling their weight. Top class effort and can't wait to return. Well done!

the food was decent but the service on the other hand… the lad at the bar was friendly when we came in, got us seated and we ordered our food and drink. not too long of a wait, the meals came out slowly and not all together but our order was incorrect so got sent back. they then brought the same food back out to us and we explained again what was wrong. now i’m a waitress myself so i understand mistakes happen and they can be easily rectified but the staff seemed more confused than us. we then had a new meal out that was correct but one was remade incorrectly even though we made it clear what we were after. staff didn’t seem apologetic but after a short wait we finally had all of our correct meals. we had finished our food, a few of us had gone outside to vape and when we came back in staff were stood behind the bar on phones and our table still hadn’t been cleared (it’d been about 20 minutes since we’d finished our food at this point) we sat around waiting for a bit before calling someone over to order dessert, our table was then cleared without any interaction from the waitress, we were not asked if we enjoyed the food or anything, no chit chat was made. lovely little pub but missing the friendly feel from a few...

Visited here on a walk from three cliffs bay, with our two young boys and dog. The landlady couldn't have been more attentive and welcoming. Our boys had a delicious Sunday roast dinner with homemade gravy and the new potatoes were superb. Murphy (our dog) also got spoilt rotten with delicious roast dinner treats. Whilst at the club the weather turned bad so once we had finished asked the landlady to call a taxi........ £20 for 3or4 miles we declined as way too expensive for such a short way back and the landlady quickly said her husband (the chef) would drop us back. Now how thoughtful is that. We were so grateful for such a kind and generous couple, who deserve to be successful. Thank you so much for making our time with you a pleasure. Will look forward to dropping by when we are on holiday again. The...

A cool wind blew across the Gower, the sea drew fear in our hearts, we were ever so hungry, it was getting late. We arrived to our dismay 20 minutes after the kitchen closed... 😫 The kindly land lady saw our crestfallen expression and took pity upon us. She asked inquisitively "Are you vegetarian?" "Not really" said I. "Well you look it" said she "would you like some veggie massaman, curry half and half" We accepted whole heartedly, our bellies sung out with joy and relief. "I'll just pop the frier back on" There we were, not 20 minutes later, chowing down on a delicious curry and nursing our ciders. The locals were friendly and jovial. Amazing atmosphere. Could not...
