Toby Carvery — Restaurant in Great Britain

i was very dissatisfied with our visit the service we received was dismal to say the least. It was my daughter’s birthday and 8 of us came to the restaurant which was booked previously. on arrival the table was no set for us, we waited along time and then had to find someone to get drinks for us then we had our main course which was lovely. We then waited and waited and having seen the waitress look at us 4 times then ignore us i then went to whom i believed was the person in charge and informed him of the situation to which he cleared our dirty pots and sent the waitress to take our dessert orders. after a further 25minutes she came and told us that the option chosen for one of our party was not available as they had ran out however she did bring out 2 desserts the rest came in dribs and drabs and 3 of which were wrong, cold desserts and i was told that she believed that the desserts hadn’t been labelled and so they weren’t sure of the flavours. then i asked for the birthday cake to be brought out which took another 20 minutes and came with no knife, napkins or plates so we couldn’t even cut it. i told the waitress that i was very unhappy with the service and i also refused to pay for my dessert which i didn’t eat as i don’t like plums the bill was reduced for the one one dessert. it took 3hours for us to be served which was disgraceful. As a family we come to toby for all of our birthdays as well as throughout the year and it has to be said this was the worst. i understand that the restaurant was busy and was told the girl that was serving us was new, while i understand people have to learn i also believe they should have someone teaching them and guiding them and not been left to her own devices. i did feel sorry for the girl who served us as i believe it wasn’t her fault as she was in...

Our first experience at a Toby Carvery was not a sucsefull one unfortunately.

After behing shown to our seats at our reserved time of 8pm are drinks where ordered, we waited and waited and eventually had to call someone over to order our food. Our waitress at the time returned three time explaining what we ordered was out of stock. By the time we had our starters it was 8:45 and where where advised the Carvery was closing so as soon as we could we got up to get our food.

At this point they had started to take away some of the meat options which was disappointing and there was a big que of to from the app too good to go waiting to clear the remaining food

We felt rushed even though we where able to book at this time. I feel that if you have a reservation then food should be served throughout your meal and not close early.

Our email companions also said the toilets where also unacceptable and unclean.

As for the food this was good and can't complaine about the Carvery we just felt the service let us down.

Our server was lovely and we where aware she was new at the job. I just think Toby Carvery should better plan there reservations so that their guests don't feel rushed.

Unfortunately won't be returning...

On entering Toby asked for a table for 4, got taken to a very far away table in the corner even though the staff could see one of the people had a walking stick and was struggling to walk. Had to ask for a closer table to the food as they were not able to walk with the stick and plate to the table themselves. Staff were aminable and found a table that wasn't reserved and was easier access to the food.

Food over all was delicious, wide ish variety of veg to go with the meat. - didn't see any other option other than meat. Only issue was the gravey and condiments were to far away from the hot food and seemed to be hidden in the corner - wouldn't have known where they were if I didn't do to the toilets (which were up stairs)

Atmosphere seems alright, wasn't too busy when we arrived around 12pm. There did however seem to be quite a few children walking/dancing around and shouting or screaming. - maybe have a separate area for the children to eat in and a play area inside for them to occupy themselves in rather than just a colouring in sheet at the table?

Over all not a bad Toby, could possible...
