Didn't even want to give this place a one star one star. My parents had been before and said it was lovely so after a long morning at the hospital with my parents and a friend we went to the cafe. We ordered four bacon rolls and some drinks. The bacon roll had very little butter on it and was dry the side salad they had put a dressing on without asking of we wanted it which if someone was allergic to it and didn't realise it was there would have caused an allergic reaction so ver unsafe there. There was no service with a smile and the atmosphere was awful like the staff had an argument, was really horrible. While we were still eating, drinking and talking the staff started to stack the chairs around us and then started to sweep the floor up. They then got the bucket and mop which the chemical smell was awful so they could wash the floors and were cleaning the tables and spraying cleaning chemical while we were still drinking they also put the music on and loud so we couldn't hear each other talk either. There was no thank you good byes or anything just very rude and impolite staff The toilets were out of order which were needed as well. . My parents had been a few times before and raved about their bacon roll and how lovely it was so they were greatly disappointed, we don't like Mac d but they would have done a lot better job and wouldn't have been so rude either. We did get there late but when we went to be served they could have said sorry we will be closing so no hot food then we would have just had a coffee and a cake Or sorry we are now closing 2hich would have been better than for you to lose customers as I will not be recommending you and I doubt my parents will again or come in a visit. You need to work on your staffing customer skills and teach them how to behave and how not to and to clean up the cafe once all the customers have left or just be polite and say we shall be closing in a bout five minutes. A service with a smile and a bit of a chat would also go a long too with some friendly laughter instead of that horrible unwelcoming argumentive atmosphere. Please work on that and your bacon buttys as dad said you use to make them in a long roll and they were lovely with no salad or dressing but you really could have caused someone to have had an allergic reaction which wouldn't have been...
Read moreSuch a shame as I have heard so many good things about JayJays, but last week I visited alongside my mum and 2 toddlers. We had promised them an ice cream. It was quite busy, therefore a long wait to get to the till, but appreciate this can't be helped. However, once it was my turn, the cashier was rude, unhelpful, and quite clearly not interested in being there in the slightest. I asked for 2 iced coffees and 2 ice creams, no acknowledgement from her, but she walked off. Came back with the coffees. I then asked if the ice-creams could be made really small. Honestly, she reacted like I'd just hurled abuse at her and was very rude with the way she responded, saying they are all £3.50 and one size. I said that I understood they were £3.50 I just wanted them to be made very small, so we didn't have to spend the next 10minutes trying to stop the children getting covered in dripping ice-cream. It's not really a lot to ask for a smaller ice-cream and I was willing to pay full price, I just had not come prepared with wipes and wanted to enjoy my coffee instead of what ended up happening, 2 frustrated children because they could not eat their ice-creams quick enough to prevent the enevitable dripping all over the place, yes I did the usual of having some to help but it just created an unnecessary stressful situation. Once we had been given our ice-creams I dared ask for a couple of napkins, she actually sighed before getting some from beside her (I couldn't get them from where I was), she gave me 2 small napkins so was basically pointless in this situation. Once all ice-creams had finished, we were nearly finished with our coffees and another lady came and cleaned our table before we had even finished so felt very unwelcome. I doubt we'll be using this place again, and we go to...
Read moreLots of small group therapy & mutual support going on at Gorleston beach around this cafe today, as the punters huddled together to share horror stories about the breathtaking rudeness of the manager and some staff. Our experience was played out multiple times. Having parted with hard-earned cash to buy ice-creams, coffees and cakes we found ourselves being barked at to "get out" when we attempted to use the loo. When one of our party dared to explain that we were actually customers (pretty obvious - we were eating their ice-cream) & objected to being spoken to in that way, the manager snarled that he would happily close it down (we didn't know if that meant the loos or the restaurant). Others experienced having chairs dragged across their path by staff to prevent them entering for the loos, and customers queuing for the food were greeted with a snappy "Next!" & were summarily passed over if they did not fetch & retrieve their choice of cold drink from the cabinet fast enough. So yes. Get your seaside refreshments here, (you'll have to - there's nothing else along this end of the beach) but do wear a thick skin first; rehearse your order so you can spit it out fast enough when you reach the counter, as he who hesitates is lost, and be prepared to pee in the sea when their over-priced average coffee works it's way through to your bladder, cos there's one loo and you will be inexpicably standing outside in the heat waiting to use it. Remain attentive & God help you if you don't follow orders first time. Personally, I'm just not made of stern enough stuff to take another verbal battering, so I'll be taking my flask and...
