Seriously let down. Look, when we arrived the place was very busy so we fully expected to wait. We were sat in a very nice conservatory room which had plenty of room for all 6 of us. We ordered drinks and meals and to be fair it wasn't too long before they began to arrive. The food for four of us (2 adults,2 kids) arrived and it was generally quite good, but then the problems started. A full 30 minutes later all four of us had finished yet two adults were still waiting for the chicken kebabs. I myself am an executive chef and I have worked to a very high standard of cooking with Michelin star chefs Tom Shepherd, Glynn Purnell and Gary Rhodes. I did not expect Michelin Star food- but I do expect the head Chef to command the kitchen. And basic table checkbacks from the front of house team. And smiles. One of the primary things regarding service in my opinion is to NEVER send any food until everything else is ready- unless requested. And to fully communicate with your guests. To send 4 meals then not even communicate with the given table for 40 minutes is nothing short of pathetic. So after 30 minutes we asked the waitress where our food was- and she absolutely seemed to not care less. She actually made us feel that it was our fault with her attitude. Once again- I know the place was busy- but we were spending a lot of money so expected good service. Eventually a further 10 minutes later we were told that our kebab would be another 15 minutes as they had to change the meat. Then 10 minutes later we were finally bought out one kebab! When we asked where the other one was the waitress once again blankly queried what we were talking about??? In the meantime another girl came to us and asked us if we now wanted to Cancel our '2 pork kebabs'? What an absolute time consuming mess- which if somebody had taken correct control would never of happened. We paid for our meals in the end- even though we didn't even get to eat together as a family and you gave my partner and her sister a mini bottle of prosecco to say sorry. Fortunately for you I had removed myself from the situation- as I intended to not pay a penny , but working in the industry I fully understand how things can go horribly wrong like they did. Please if anything work on this for the future. You never know who you are serving so please treat everybody with the same respect no matter how...

So where should I start.

We decided to try this restaurant for my birthday dinner with my friends. The customer service is the worst, in short they ruined my birthday! There were 6 of us but one of our friends was on his way and we wanted to wait for him to order.

But, the waitresses keep coming to ask if if we are ready to order and we keep explaining that we are waiting for our friend. They were no way welcoming at all and we felt they were pressuring us to order. 4 staffs in total asking us the same questions within 3-4 minutes interval.

The were few empty tables around so, it wasn't that they were fully booked and they weren't anyone waiting/queueing outside to dine in.

When the food finally arrived, the waitresses were really disrespectful. They didn't even place the plate properly, they were like 'throwing' the plates on the table instead of serving them gently. They were also very salty and not friendly at all.

They came in the middle of us eating and asked if we are done whilst all 6 plates still have half of the meal. It was a minimum of 3 times of they asking whether we are done or not?

They keep interrupting our conversation and this is unacceptable. We intentionally picked this restaurant as it offers the dine in for us to enjoy each other company but we felt that we were just pressured to eat and leave!

The restaurant closed at 9pm and we left promptly at 9pm whilst they were still lots of people in the restaurants. We thought to ourselves maybe they felt pressured as they were closing. But we booked the table at 7pm and the usual duration for dine in is 2 hours or maybe more! It is unacceptable they keep pressuring us to eat and leave.

Next, the food. It wasn't the best 5/10. Pizza was soggy and salty! Gyros was dry! Location was amazing, plenty of parking, lovely rooftop dine in, facing the Gorleston sea.

We have tried it once, and unfortunately that will be the last. All the waitresses needs a proper training! It is a shame as the restaurant have so much potential. Service is the most important thing, the food can be open to preference, but there is no way around customer service. Also, can we talk about all the waitresses' false nails when handling food? Is this even meeting the health and safety? Especially during this time where we need to make sure we always clean our...

As a local who’s been coming here for several years, I must say my most recent visit on a bank holiday was highly disappointing.

The ‘New’ Website Ordering:

The new ordering system on the website is poorly designed. I ordered a chicken gyro and was presented with options to add or remove items. The first category, which isn’t very clear, is for removing items. This system gives you 3 points to distribute across the following options:

• No Salad • No Sauce • No Chips

Considering this is a point system, you can select “no salad” three times. This results in users assuming they are adding, not removing items. After all, how can you remove an item three times?

The Food:

The food has always been very flavorful, which is what you’d expect given the price. However, since my last visit, something has clearly changed. The portion sizes before 2024 were excellent. The food was somewhat expensive but you received a good amount. This has now changed drastically. I’d say the portion size has dropped by at least 60%, and at £16 for a chicken gyro, it’s unacceptable. Additionally, the food came out cold, which has never happened before.

I’m a 23-year-old male who’s not far off being underweight according to the NHS, I walked out hungry after eating the whole meal. The chicken portion could fit within the palm of one hand!

My order was incorrect (or correct, depending on how you interpret the website design), which was resolved. However, it was highly concerning as it was evident they scraped off the item I asked to be removed. Due to this, I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you have any major allergies.

Final Thoughts:

I will be returning as I’ve had some incredible experiences in the past. However, my next visit will determine whether I continue to come back regularly.

I hope the manager acknowledges this review and looks into resolving these issues. The website should be a priority, as it’s a simple fix that needs to be...

Another restaurant for me to review, I hope people know I'm quite particular and nobody scores 5* as always room for improvement. I've been meaning to go here for a while, and overall I'm quite impressed. The service from the young girl was polite, and she approached regularly asking if drinks were needed, but not to often as to annoy. The restaurant was clean as was the washrooms, could possibly do with a fresh coat of paint though. I personally dislike brick and concrete walls as I think they are harder to clean. So we ordered, and I had a hot spicy Italian pizza with a side of sweet potato fries, my daughter and friend had a burger. My wife had a chicken souvlaki and another friend had mixed gyro. Gyro is apparently like a flatbread with meat, for those like me who didn't know. My pizza was definitely hot and spicy, thin and cooked just right, really good and the sweet potato fries were crispy as they should be. My daughter and friends burger, was as it should be, a burger, hard to write much unless its fantastic or awful. Now this souvlaki was very good nice chunks of herb marinated chicken would recommend, very tasty. Also the gyro was incredibly good and would highly recommend it especially if your hungy. We couldn't manage a desert after all our food, but I did look at the desert menu and it looked appealing. I love cheesecake and it was on there. The prices were good for what we got, but I would recommend trying something other than a burger. So to sum it up clean, good service, great food. Definitely scores a 4.4* which is a very high standard and not many restaurants get this. How to improve, maybe cover the concrete with plaster, then paint and bring a bit of colour rather than grey. 2 for 1 on drinks menu didn't state prices, maybe just double up for price of a single and stick it in same glass.

The calamari meal was not worth my time and revenue. I had a birthday celebration for one of my dear friends, for which we went on a holiday escape to the coast. This night as the big celebration, we were aiming for a pricey but still manageable place to celebrate. The fig restaurant was what we chose in the end. As a pescatarian, being near the coast is amazing. However, my happiness would have been overcasted by the fig. They only had one fish dish and two shellfish dishes. Evidently, the menu is online, but seeing it now, it has been updated since then. I fancied some calamari, already knowing that it might be a smaller portion, but seeing that it was £18.25 I thought it would be a bit bigger. As they served my calamari they first forgot the fries that came with it. I had to ask if it did come with chips (which it did), whereupon they took my plate back and added less than a handful of fries. Secondly, a depressing salad which they called their signature dressed salad (which if it is a greek salad, would not have lettuce in it). And finally, 8 tiny calamari pieces that were deep fried with sauce. The food was okay, but I am not content with the whole delivery and value. The starter calamari, which would be 4 pieces without the salad and fries, was half the price of the meal:£9.25. To get my craving of calamari I would have rather gotten the starter, and tasted some (tiny bit) of the ocean, and would have gotten a pizza, gyro, or anything else to fill me up. Now I have left with my stomach half full and an annoyance. I would have paid more for the pizza and a calamari starter, but it would have been more worth my money than the dish that was served to me. With a small cocktail costing £9 I came out to £27.50 which, again, would have been fine if I was satisfied, which I was NOT. cocktail 3/5 servers 4/5 food 2/5

Me and my friend decided to have a catch up and a meal out together and booked a table at The Fig on Gorleston beach. (Hadn't been since it was under another name). It had a nice atmosphere and a nice layout. There weren't many people in there at the time but who were in there seemed to be having nice times. We ordered a main, I had the Chicken Gyro and we had desserts, I had Fudge Cake. We both had 2x drinks (cokes) as well. All very lovely and tasty. There was plenty of food on the plates, so for the price, I didn't feel too bad about it. The staff were friendly enough, but didn't go above and beyond. The view from the table was pleasant, we had a nice circular, floor-to-ceiling window. But it was nighttime so really only saw car lights as they pulled up outside. There is on-site parking outside the restaurant and plenty around the area if you can't get a space. There is also a wheelchair accessible entrance and disabled parking slots outside. The tables are set nicely away from people, so you don't feel cramped and the decor of the restaurant was pleasing. We had a nice time and would visit again. I have added photos of where we sat, the menu and the food and drink we received. I would say this place would be smart-casual attire wanted. They accept card and cash and also have seating on the roof for those summer days (which we will try another time). There was a drinks bar onsite as well and they also take birthday bookings (as there was a birthday party group in the entrance side of the restaurant when we arrived).
