I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Jolly Farmer in Worplesdon (between Guildford and Woking), and I can't sing its praises enough! If you're looking for a welcoming, dog-friendly spot with delicious food, generous portions, and top-notch service, this is the place to be! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere. The staff made us feel right at home, and they were especially accommodating to our doggy, offering treats and a water bowl right away. It's clear they genuinely love dogs and understand how to make the dogs and their owners feel welcome. Now, let's talk about the food – simply outstanding! The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, each more tempting than the last. I opted for the Sunday roast with pork belly, which arrived as a massive portion with perfectly cooked vegetables and crispy roast potatoes. Their homemade gravy was the best I’ve ever had! My partner chose Sunday roast with beef, my mom had fish and chips, and my son had spareribs which were all equally impressive. The portions were so generous we had to take some home! The pub itself is charming and cozy, with plenty of seating both inside and out. The outdoor area is particularly lovely, with ample space for dogs to relax and socialize. What truly sets this pub apart is the service. The landladies went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. They were attentive without being intrusive, always ready with a recommendation or a quick chat. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it made our visit very enjoyable. It surely is a gem of a place that combines fantastic food, excellent service, and a dog-friendly environment in the best possible way. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make sure to stop by. You won't be disappointed!

A lovely family lunch with nestled in beautiful countryside; great for walks with kids, dogs or both. I have previously not been particularly keen on the food offering of the Jolly Farmer, but it has been completely revamped. The menu offers classic pub staples such as fish and chips and a well designed burger, as well as new gastro-additions such as the Cumberland sausages with cabbage and mash. There are new starters, and a refreshing offering of snacks. The food is now able to challenge the nearby Bird in Hand and Drumming Snipe and has put this pub very much back on the map for me. The staff were attentive and friendly. Our young kids were taken in stride and were made to feel equally welcome. The garden is lovely and is a great place for a meal or a drink after a walk on the common. The adjacent parking makes this a natural start/end for excursions. I found the dappled shade under the grape vines to be delightful. The indoor facilities are cozy and sympathetic to the age of the building. The bar is well-stocked and offers local beers as well as the usual brands. If you (like me) have previously reserved the Jolly Farmer for only the occasional drink, then now is an excellent opportunity to give it another try and discover a much improved local favourite!

I recently visited The Jolly Farmer in Guildford for a pint, and it was an outstanding experience! From the moment I stepped in, I was welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The pub has a charming rustic feel, with cozy seating and a friendly vibe that makes you feel instantly at ease. The beer selection is fantastic, with a great variety of local and international brews. I chose a refreshing craft beer, which was served perfectly chilled and tasted amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, offering excellent recommendations and ensuring top-notch service throughout my visit. One of the highlights was the pub’s beautiful outdoor garden area. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a drink, especially on a sunny day. The locals were also very welcoming, adding to the overall pleasant experience. In summary, The Jolly Farmer is a wonderful spot in Guildford for a pint. Whether you’re looking for a quiet drink or a lively evening with friends, this pub has it all. Highly recommended!

After a long day cycling along the coast. We decided on the drive home to stop off at the Jolly farmer on our way back. I have been frequenting this lovely little find on and off ever since I worked in Guildford back in2002. I have never had an issue coming here until now. We were well received and seated. The staff were also welcoming. We ordered, our starter and it was lovely. My partner is a pescatarian but did not want fish this evening. The only other option for her was the veggie burger!. Perhaps we should have asked what was in the burger ?! Maybe.. maybe the staff should have informed us what was in the burger ?! Who knows ? I had the chicken burger ! Always a safe bet I thought. My partner was surprised to have a slab of breaded deep fried halloumi as her “vegetarian” option. My chicken looked appetising, yet sadly lacking in flavour when I bit into it. Everything seemed to be deep fried, which, surprised us both!! Previously we have come here to enjoy fresh well cooked food. When my partner explained she was a vegetarian and explained how surprised she was to receive a slab of deep fried cheese the waiter responded with” oh I’ll mention that to him” .. who is him I pondered. When we paid, a second man came over and asked if everything was ok , we said no. To give him credit, he listened and nodded in all the right places but, then he said .. “ oh sorry about that, I’ll pass it on”. At this stage I decided it’s best to pay and leave. I’ve left a message here hoping it will get “passed” on to some who will actually do...

The Jolly Farmer Pub Well worth a visit a short drive out of Guilford town. Here's what to expect. Aesthetic: This a small quaint pub with traditional oak beams with a rustic charm and touch of urban sophistication. You'll be assured of a warm welcome here, dog friendly with plenty of bowls to keep your pooch happy. Only wished we had a dog to take.

Food: If you're looking for good pub food then this is your place. We opted for a burger but this wasn't any old burger this was The Jolly Farmer burger. It was unbelievably scrumptious. I added a slice of bacon to mine from the extras. Good quality ingredients cooked fresh, which the butcher had just delivered. The fries had their skins and only what I could describe as having a touch of sea salt crystals on them. I have never tasted such amazing fries before. Now I'm not going to compare the quality to pringles but you know that urge that once you start you can't stop, well that's the same with these fries, but better. We had oinion rings to share that was perfectly executed. There was 3 of us at this meal usually all with different tastes but on this occasion we all chose the same meal and all came to the same 5* opinion. Complements to the chef/s! Unfortunately we didn't have room for desert maybe next time. Upon leaving we noticed a large BBQ area and I've heard their Sunday roast is second to none. We'll just have to visit again soon from...
