Very Disappointed, visited at the weekend. Firstly it's moved into the Black Horse Pub, no where does the advertising or signage state this & only found it by the big sign in the garden & van parked in the front on our way out of the village.
Ordered our drinks at the bar, to be advised NO rose wine, on a Saturday evening it wasn't busy.
Got seated quickly, really pleasant & friendly staff. Pub looked clean, but kitchen door was open, quite off putting when chefs only had chef jackets as uniforms & was wearing there everyday trousers ,& trainers.
Food was expensive but this was supposed to be a treat. OMG I was so wrong, Had a burger & chips £12.95, burger was served very pink, but we was hungry. Chips were awful, they tasted like those cheap £1 bag Aldi own. Served on a dinner tray, not a plate, that was so hot you couldn't touch it. But the red coleslaw was also served on this tray, not even in a ramekin. Hence to say there was steam coming off it & unedible
We left most of our meal. We asked for the bill & all was added correctly, paid by card & had to ask for a card receipt. Oh we text or email card receipts was the answer. I was shocked by this a most elderly don't really have internet & barely know how to use a mobile. Then asked for a till receipt, we was advised that our bill was our receipt. Errrmmmm NO it's a bill, not a receipt, a receipt has to have business name, address, vat number & paid on it. After quite a discussion was advised they would phone me with the Vat Number to write on my bill myself, but they would text my card receipt. I'm still waiting!!
On this basis, we won't be returning ever & will be reporting to the relevant authorities, cause as you can see from the reviews further down, they used to provide a correct receipt with the correct information. In this day & age of scams you have to be so vigilant over who has your details. Yet this seems to be oh trust us as complete strangers attitude. Although this possibly isn't the case it's how it feels, even moreso as you haven't followed through & done what you faithfully promised you would in contacting us & texting our card receipt.
I feel alot more effort needs to be put in place to warrant the costs your charging. Cause to be honest, Hungry Horse is better value which I never thought would be a comparison. Considering we had been looking forward to visiting Texas Steakhouse for quite a while. We...
Read moreNot too far from the beaten track but far enough to escape the madness. Really quaint building in a lovely village. Started with a caramel cappuccino as good as any costa or starbucks. We tried the Sunday menu, which isn't huge but is filled with delicious offerings. I had the turkey roast dinner, which was really tasty. The veg was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The Yorkshire pudding was crispy and full of traditional homemade gravy and the turkey was generously portioned and sitting on a bed of creamy mash and roasted potatoes. Great views accross a lovely part of South Leicestershire. My advice would be to book ahead to avoid disappointment. We will definitely be back soon. Thanks guys you knock the ball out...
Read moreIf you are visiting Foxton Locks (or not) it is really worth walking a little way up the canal to the beautiful village of Foxton, where you will discover this gem of a pub with the added benefit of an attached tea room/bakery. A large well-tended garden with a covered terrace. Great views over Leicestershire. Covid precautions evident. I have visited twice in the last month, for lunch. It's a fairly limited menu but well cooked and presented. Generous portions for a good price. My only suggestion would be a couple of salad options available. The pub and tea-room are run by the same extended family and you are welcome to be served from the tea-room, sitting in the pub garden! Everyone is friendly and the...
