Friendly staff, good food and a great atmosphere

Summer 2022 update New manager is grumpy. Poor at communicating too. The owning group are still operating a card only system, so a pocket full of cash is no good. It may have been a Sunday evening, but no atmosphere at all.

October 2022 update. A rare Friday night. Heard there was a new menu, so thought, why not! Ro ked up with no booking and was told that it was busy as its Friday, pay day and half term, so would have to wait. Waited about 20 mins amd got a table to find it wasn't even very busy. Waited ages for our order to be taken. To he fair, the food came quickly and was nice. My other half (driving) ordered an Alcohol free cider, which had been advertised on their Facebook page, to be told they had sold out (very poor planning by management). Moving on, finished our mains and tried to order pudding, but they did not have our selection in stock. So summary, made to feel bad for not booking, then didn't have the staff or stock to serve us. Alex C was our waiter and he was the only good that came from our visit. A very decent and courteous chap.

Come on De Hav, you need...

I am, as in all my reviews, a regular. Having seen ownership and management change hands many times over the last decade, I am finally glad to say that under the current manager James and entirety of the team with special mention to Tom, Hannah and Luca. The dehaviland is worthy of 5 stars.

I regularly bring the boys I take care of to come play monopoly and enjoy the calm atmosphere during the day and return for drinks and breakfast often.

Constructive criticism: The De Hav as it is know is one of the best places I know at managing allergies, often times this will cost you unless you speak to James personally, as it seems the team often adds extra charges for customising an order.

With the Quality of the food being so high (S/O to the chefs) often times it can take a while for your food to get to you, however, it is worth the wait for the most part.

Finally; kids are told to be accompanied by an adult to order coffee or cake . Whilst in evenings and nights this makes clear sense. Please allow it durin' the day as it is...

It is an awful place with terrible service. The food has ridiculous prices. Nothing is freshly cooked; instead, it is heated up. The staff seems to think they are doing you a favour if you can get their attention. You must accept terrible food and service and never raise a concern!

It is a chaotic and dirty place. We have never seen more than two people who take orders at the bar and the tables. You could be waiting for ages before someone notices you and seats you. Then, the wait begins for someone to take your order. When it finally arrives, you wonder what you are paying ridiculous prices for. After taking your order, they will sometimes confirm that they don't have the items on the menu. I ordered some sort of chicken which I had to leave because it was stinking. The staff are rude, angry and inattentive. Your feedback is not welcome. You should pay ridiculous prices and be willing to accept terrible...

We decided to try De Havilland Arms after passing by a few times and being curious about it. We visited in the mid-afternoon, and it was fairly empty, which we thought was fine. The bar staff were friendly and helpful, so that was a positive start. However, the food was disappointing. After a 20-minute wait, the Double Stacked Beef Burger I ordered wasn't worth the Ā£14.75 price tag. The bun was dry and slightly hard, the burgers were overcooked, and the filling was minimal. For that price, I expected much better quality. While the service was good, the food quality just didn’t match up. I gave it a try, but unfortunately, I don't see myself returning anytime soon.

Went for a meal with a group of friends. For me nothing special food OK. They messed our order up yet we were only a table of four and they were not overly busy. We ate in the bar area maybe might have been better in the restaurant. Good choice of food but it's probably brought in and cooked. My steak was tough and I like it medium rare! Tables not that clean and limited cutlery in the pots on the table. Good selection of beers and wines.

Great atmosphere, warm and Christmas decorations up, a great place for a Sunday roast. They were out of Turkey unfortunately, but it was the first weekend in December and busy. We were actually running a bit late for our booking so rang and they moved it back 15 minutes which was nice of them. The waitresses and bar staff are really helpful.
