I just want to caveat this by saying that we had originally visited Bhageeca about a year or so ago and didn't have a great experience but there has been a simply phenomenal turnaround so far. We gave it a second chance, particularly as we really liked the location, interior decor and I'm really glad that we did.
We held my mum's birthday here, an event for around 60 people. We first got in touch with Ravi a few months before via e-mail and he was prompt in getting back to us. From there, everything was smooth sailing, with excellent recommendations on the set party menu, accommodations being made for those with specific dietary requirements and recommendations on drinks and the overall set up. We must have spoken a dozen times by e-mail and Ravi went so far as to have us in to have a catch up before the event itself.
The night itself was fantastic. We had incredibly attentive staff (big shout out to Len and the team) and everything went smoothly, on time and without a hitch. This was despite there being an external decorator coming in to put up a backdrop and having a cake delivered - as soon as they arrived the team were on hand and ready to get things moving.
We had the sole use of the indoor/outdoor pergola covered area, which was great given the excellent weather we had but set up in a way that even if it wasn't, we'd have been under cover. The interior was as you'd expect and each place was set up great and the overall decor is spot on.
From a practical perspective, the restaurant is easy to get to and there's loads of parking, so no worries there.
One of the main reasons we wanted to book at an outside location was to take away the stress and work towards an event like this and the Bhageecha team made it exactly like that for us.
The food was excellent, and as mentioned there were allowances made for those with specific dietary requirements which was great for us.
Overall a fantastic night and undoubtedly one which will be remembered extremely fondly. Thanks to Ravi, Len and the whole team at Bhageecha for a...
Read moreFrom the moment I entered the restaurant to the moment we left. Amazing! Service was top notch even though the restaurant had a private party, they managed to have a table for us walk ins. (Doubt they normally do because of how busy I’ve always seen this place but we thought it was worth asking, and soo glad we did!)
Food was excellent. Didn’t have to wait for long before the starters and drinks orders came out. For drinks, we had several: virgin mango coladas, the lychee based candy calypso and royal garden. The mango colada was our fave, it tasted like a dessert. We had the meat platter for two and all the pieces of meat were made to perfection. They were all different but complementing flavours. We had a lamb “sheekh” kebab, a lamb chop, couple (large but not too large) chicken piece - one tikka and one hariyali (this was surprisingly good!) and a chicken wing each. (Insert yummy emoji 😋)
We had the lamb biryani and the chicken biryani which were both good. It came with Raitha. The place I would improve it is the spice level but that’s personal preference for sure, I would have had it more spicy. It was still flavoursome and very good, especially as an intro to the different levels of biriyani and Indian spice!
Dessert was sooo good! Not the typical deserts you’d find at an Indian at all. The gulab jamun lime cheesecake 😋😋😋 good if you like cheese cake, even better if you like it with a twist! I can’t wait to try the others on the menu next time we go there.
I think that’s why I’m giving this place five stars, I’d actually visit again! I hope the experience will be as good then as it is now, but something tells me the standards will be maintained. Sadly was too busy enjoying the dinner to take pictures of all the dishes but there is one of the cheesecake in the light of the setting sun.
Two things to remember: sunglasses if you’re sitting outside and registering the car for your...
Read moreOut with a few friends to celebrate a couple of birthdays on Friday 31st Jan. Whilst our waiter was pleasant enough the food most definitely wasn’t. Mogo chat was stale and tasted like it had been made two days ago. Broccoli malai was initially served cold and on the second attempt it actually tasted and looked awful. Paneer shashlik had no taste and was also served barely warm. Mains were not tasty and masala’s were not cooked through and naan was partly burnt. Profiterole slice is not what it says on the tin - it was sickly sweet and was actually 3 tiny and not so fresh profiteroles (if you can call them that) on a piece of chocolate cake.
What made the experience even worse is an unruly couple, that had clearly drunk too much, who were shouting and arguing all evening with one another. None of the staff asked them to be considerate of other patrons who were dining at the same time. And this was not for a few minutes, it was in fact for a couple of hours. It’s disappointing that the staff did not have the courage to ask them to consider other patrons and to lower their volume or take their very personal argument elsewhere. The constant noise and swearing completely ruined the ambience at the restaurant. I spoke to the supervisor and explained that he was within his rights to ask them to consider that there are other diners but he just apologised and said I’ll let my manager know - which didn’t address the situation at the time.
We chose Bhageecha for dinner without any concerns (having been there once before), but what was meant to be an evening of celebration with good food, ended up being an evening of very disappointing food and a chaotic and unpleasant atmosphere.
I do not recommend this restaurant at all, on account of the below par food and the establishment’s lack of courage to address an incredibly rude, loud, aggressive and unruly couple - that ruined...
