We arrived here no booking the woman at the reception said if you want you can wait 30min to have table available if not you can eat at the front, then I told here is fine we can wait that 30 min after 15min mu wife pasa around and ask and they said they have no put us on the waiting list and now we need wait for 1h. I think that's not a very good service and attention to the customer. They sai all what you can eat I understand is like a buffet but they have two diferen plates whit extra charge then if you like a big plate you paid and extra 2£ and you can have meat only once then is not all what you can eat they ofer all vegetables you want whit out extra cost but not you can't eat all meat you want like in a rodizo o any chines buffets. I think they should change the marketing o ofer the people to eat what they want for about 20£ per person I think you can eat all the meat you like and they still have benefit. The woman who attend as on the table was very nice but at the end is just a decorative waiter they just pick up what you want and nothing else you pick up your food, your drink, your sauces... then I think it is not service on table. The food was very good but the meat quantity was a bit poor. I believe my wife whit the small dish has more meat than me on the big plate. As an experience is nice. I think coality was not bad.

*Chicharon/pork crakling was hard as stone and salted as a dead sea, I think they need to improve the way they cooking these stones have better ways of cooking and make it more crunchy and tasty definitly that sukd change.

*Saudage was desgasting. I think the more bad sausage I eat in my entire life was hard, dry, untasty, complet disgusting, and definitely not recommended. It is more bad than the breakfast sausage of greegs.

To put in numbers, Watherspoon sausage 6 points Toby's sausage 0 points

*Price in Google show from 10£ to 20£ but that if you have only sunday roast and a drink because if you order something else like a dessert and coffee o a bottle of wine you sprend sure more than 20£

I hope you read my comments. If you like my advice, give me a like for more opinions. If you like to see a video traying and giving an opinion, leave a comment...

Food was delicious. I booked online, requested a quiet space and asked that my friend's food be mashed and meat cut up small due to her missing teeth. On arrival, it took me searching for a member of staff and a 5 min wait to be greeted. I mentioned the booking request and the man said that it may not be possible. I was shocked as this was booked days in advance and the requested added so expected this to be addressed. As a family friendly restaurant my expectations are that most requests can be accommodated for and young children, and in my case my elderly friend, was not asking for something out of the ordinary. All I asked for was her veg to be mashed with gravy and meat cut up small, I didn't ask for a blender! The service was diabolical and well below par and I raised this at the time. No-one came to check if we were ok, no-one asked if we needed drinks refilling (given that I had a refillable drink I expected this) and it was only when I was looking for the toilets later, that I saw there was a drinks station where diners can do their own refilling. Given that both myself and my elderly friend had disabilities which were obvious by her walking stick and my crutch to support me, we should have been given the attention and service I felt we deserved but at the very least, as I'm diabetic and get very thirsty, we should have been told about the drinks station when we were initially seated. We were at a table behind a pillar and as such, we found it extremely difficult to get waiting staff's attention. As a result of the poor service I did not leave a tip which is the first time I have never done so at any restaurant. Being told that I would have to make my food request direct to the kitchen staff, when I had pre-booked and written my request, was also a...

Me and my partner come here often, we really like the food.

The reason I gave the restaurant 2 stars is because last time we were there we had a very unpleasant experience. I ordered an alcoholic drink and my wife ordered a non-alcoholic one because she was still breast feeding. We were half way through those drinks when my wife noticed that she was getting light headed, turns out they served her alcohol and we didn't notice. That itself wouldn't be a big deal, everyone makes mistakes and we could have just given the baby something else for the rest of the night. But when we told our waitress she made a mistake she was angry with us, saying: "What do you want me to do? It's busy. I'm only human. What do you want me to do?” She continued to be angry with us when we told her that my wife won't be able to breastfeed, and even when we were leaving we could hear her telling her colleagues: "What do you want me to do? It's busy. I'm human. What do you want me to do?”... Well I wanted her to apologise. Maybe bring my wife a non-alcoholic drink and not be hostile. But she didn't.

I definitely recommend the Yorkshire Puddings and the Lamb if they have it, for vegetables I will always recommend sauerkraut with mint sauce or cheesy cauliflower. Those are my favourites.

My wife always gets 2 Yorkshire Puddings and the beef, for vegetables she gets the roast potatoes and peas, they go really really good with the gravy and the spicy sauce.

We'll definitely be back since we like the food but we will ask for a different waitress, this one doesn't seem nice or...

Avoid! We went there yesterday and found the attitude of the manager disgraceful . We were party of 7 (6 adults and 1 child). At first we were told they can not allow more than 6 at a table. Even now their website say's they can allow a maximum of 8 at a table. Toby Carvery please find the rules below children are not included in the 6 to table rule and please update your website!!! The Manager came to see us wearing an apron she had a serious attitude. At the end she allowed us to sit at a table but after the interaction we decided to leave as we prefer food without saliva. From 19 August the maximum number of visitors at home is 6 (not counting children under 13). You are urgently advised to make sure everyone can stay 1.5 metres apart and that your visitors follow the basic hygiene 29/08/2020- Thank you for your passive aggressive response. Who ever has responded to this review needs to take a course in customer relations. If you amend your original response I have taken a screen shot to make public. I turned up at your restaurant with 6 adults and a 1 child. In your response you fail to address the fact your websites misleading information, it has still not been updated. I would like to bring your attention once again to your website which states you can accepts booking for a maximum of 8 people. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE!!!

It's been over 25 years since I last went to a Carvery, so popular in the 90's. When my husband suddenly said he really fancied a Sunday roast on a weekday the chance to revisit my youth was presented. The Toby Carvery in Watford is exactly how I remember them. Internally, it's cosy and slightly worn. But we weren't there for the decor ..we were there for a huge... continually refillable plate of food. The 4 meats on offer were beef, pork, turkey and lamb. Huge selection of sides, two types of roasted, veg, stuffing, huge Yorkshire pud, and as a new (well new to me,) addition...Mac and cheese, dumplings. Is this haute cuisine...no...and that's not the point. Is it excellent value for money... definitely. 10.49 for the meal, and that includes endless top ups of the sides. At 3.30pm on an earlier weekday afternoon it was busy....builders, families, business men. The skill with the Carvery is to grab the sides as soon as a new dish comes out...hot and fresh. But if you fancy a bit of retro dining ...you can't get better. Btw ..sign up to there app(free) and get a further 20% off your first meal! What more can you ask.
