The Woodroffe Arms in Hope is the perfect spot to unwind after a day on the trail. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and hearty meals make it an ideal retreat. Whether you're stopping for a refreshing drink or a satisfying meal, it’s a must-visit for hikers looking to relax and recharge.

A quite cosy place when I went in, and a good selection of drinks. I believe they also do food too, which I may check out on a future visit. They also have TV inside, for those that may be interested. Thank you all. See you again soon 😊

A great location if you're hiking from hope and a traditional British pub. However that's as good as it gets from me for this place. We booked to stay here on Air B&B for a night over the Easter weekend (2022) for the latter point. The booking confirmation came through and the payment was taken two nights before. We went to check in around 17:00 and they had sold our room to someone else! They had no rooms left and so we had to quickly book elsewhere. Luckily we managed to book somewhere in Buxton (20 min drive).

That's beyond unacceptable management and poor at best! Thankfully we were able to find somewhere over the busy Easter weekend. But it was sheer luck there was a room available elsewhere, there weren't any other places available close by. We live only an hour away, so whilst it would've been disappointing had we not found somewhere else to stay, it would've been okay. But imagine if you life 2-3 hours and booked to stay here! The local and surrounding area is popular for hikers and books up fast! That's a long drive home!

The pub looked old, tired, small and full of down and out local loud laddish lads. The reviews weren't great to begin with, and the hotel we managed to get in Buxton was great! So perhaps this was a blessing in disguise.

There's lots more classy pubs and far nicer places to stay in Hope or Castleton. I honestly wouldn't give this place your time, energy or money, let alone trust in your booking confirmation!

This place is...

Friend took us for the two course christmas dinner . Well i have had some awful food before but that was the worst . I am not a picky oh im not eating that kind of person . But !!! I literally could not eat it . , The sprouts where black , and tasted bottom of the pan burnt , as they had obviously boiled dry . The parnsnips where wrinkly and like rubber . The pigs in blankets , well !! I could not bite into it . I flicked it round the plate trying to get my fork into it , so i used my fingers , and as i bit into it , my teeth grated down the edge of it , it was that dry . The stuffing was oblong , jelly . The whole dinner was disgusting . Myself and friend pushed the uneaten food to one side . The owner came to collect the plates , and needless to say he refrained from asking ... "Was everything ok with your food ". . The service was disgusting. And i wont mention the...

Arrived on Friday with a large group of about 20, we had pre-booked and had been given plenty of room. Food selection was great, it was the first day of their new winter menu so the staff had some teething issues with the order system, but it didn't hinder the experience at all. Food arrived correct and tasted divine, properly good, filling traditional pub food. Pub was a bit noisy in the main room as to be expected on a Friday night, but again the staff were great and let us shut the doors to the room we were in. All in all, couldn't have been more accommodating and food was bloody excellent, will certainly be going again next time...
