Because of my work, I went to UK several times and I always found the people in general and particularly in the gastronomy really really nice and accomodating. However, the service and the people working in this restaurant are one of the worst I have ever seen: bad manners, no professionalism and no respect at all to their customers... We went to this restaurant since it is near to our hotel (2 persons). We arrived there at around 8:40 pm. The first words of one of the ladies working there were that the kitchen closes at 9 pm (we don't even remember that she said hello). So we chose quickly our food and waited at our table. Until 8:58 pm, nobody came to us although the two ladies working there walked besides us for many times. I then called one of them which surprisingly told us that we must go to the bar to order. So I told here that nobody gave us this information and went anyway quickly to the bar. There, I have been told that the kitchen is already closed (2 minutes before 9 pm). I told them that nobody informed us that we should order at the bar and that we were waiting for more than 15 minutes at our table. Instead of recognizing their fault, the lady which we met at the beginning came and pretended in a very bad way that she has already told us from the beginning that the orders should be made at the bar and this is at the end our fault (in a very disrespectful and provocating way). I told here that this is not true and neither my friend nor me heard her saying this. After a short discussion, I told her that this is not professionel and we simly left without ordering anything (nobody said...
Read moreThis is my first google review as I have never felt compelled to take the time as nothing has inspired to do so as much as this place.
This may sound dramatic, possibly. I write this three pints in on a Thursday lunch time and I’m not going to lie I’ve got a bit of a buzz on.
As a gentleman of advancing years I’m rarely impressed by anything. I recently got 5 numbers on the lotto and all it did was invoke a “oh that’s nice” but this place did more than that.
During the longest year in history there hasn’t been a great deal to be overjoyed about, they say that you find happiness in the strangest places and I found it here. It was approximately half way through the timeless classic “How to Save a Life” by The Fray playing in the background that I had a pang of what can only be described as sheer joy.
It was 2 for one on burgers and I was somewhat sceptical that something so well priced would suit my delicate and dare I say snobbish pallet. I was wrong! The twix of flavours in which, battered chicken, fresh salad, brioche bun and coors light collided can only be described as euphoric.
If I was in America I would describe it as “they have thier s**t down”.
If I could give 6 stars I would, beer is exceptional, food is exceptional and the girls who look after the place are friendlier than a bunch of Labradors being fed treats.
Pub staff have a tough gig at the moment but the gals of the Hinckley Knight are always smiling (or could all have chronic wind but that would be too coincidental) and accommodating and do their very best to make you feel welcome.
Go and eat here you...
Read moreEvery other time we've been here its been amazing. Today has been an utter let down.
Entering, we were told that over a party of 6 you are supposed to book. Over 8 there is only an enquiry option. We came in on a whim, so was not to know this. She wasn't very welcoming mentioning this a further 2 times.
My non gluten containing samdwich came with a pea in. This doesn't give me much hope for the kitchen adhering to allergys correctly.
My partners vegan fish came, and was filled with liquid. The macaroni cheese was watery. Had sent it back (after hiding a piece of onion in there to check they arent reheating) The replacement was sent out. The same macaroni was sent, including the piece of onion we had put in there. Went up to the till. Was told that it was definitely a new one. That she had worked here 6 years and that they never microwave food. When the same lady came to drop the food off to our friends, she said "I'm not being argumentive, but I scraped it off myself and it's a bit weird you'd put food in there to check"
So yeah. Wouldn't recommend and won't be back.
Edit: Restaurant has replied ' thank you for taking the time to leave us a review about your experience and I'm sorry our food didn't meet your expectations at first tonight. However not everything you have stated on here is a true reflection of tonight at all which is disappointing '
Yep. Calling customers liars again
Edit edit: have called 3 times....
