Well well, I'm giving a National chain a lofty 4 stars , and it's deserved. Needed somewhere for lunch, close to A1, and there are not a lot of options in these parts. Didnt start well either walking to this massive bar/ restaurant without seeing anyone. Bumped into what turned out to be our server who was charming, helpful and all the things Whitbread would like in their team tbf. Looking at the menu the few vegan options was a tad of a let down ( a burger, a salad or a thai curry). The latter is the only option included on their 12 -6pm midweek deal. No starters sadly, not this branch fault but a Brewers Fayre policy, just to say BF HQ Team - yes vegans would love a starter - please?? That said the value for money is excellent, 2 mains for just under £12, and the Thai curry, while never anything to threaten your experience in Bangkok was hot and reasonable. There was a humble vegan dessert which top was fine and under £3. So from a vfm point if view this place is a perfectly reasonable clean and tidy stop. Don't expect anything overly uber but I can see the appeal and say it quietly- I would return!

Visited last Sunday evening with my family, really disappointed with the service and food we got. Food was of poor quality, my mum and dad's chicken was rubbery and inedible. Food wasn't served overly hot, maybe they should invest in a food thermometer and some retraining in food standards and safety in the kitchen? Food should leave the kitchen at 75 degrees centigrade. My side if fries was tiny and tasted like they have been sat under a hotlamp for ages, I've seen kids portions bigger at other places. The chilli wasn't much bigger either. Bar staff need to be aware of the weights and measures act as the beer I was served clearly was not a pint. Staff also gave impression that they couldn't be bothered to be there. A shame really as it used to be a fairly decent place. We were hoping to have booked a large party there for Christmas day, we shall not be doing that and have opted for another local establishment. Shame burger king was closed when we left.

Right, I have just ordered the Smothered Platter at this restaurant. I normally say something if the food isn't upto standard. I am a strong believer is saying something if you are not happy instead of smiling and nodding my head yes it's lovely thank you tell them so the chef can improve. £13.49 for this is a bit steep 8 or maybe £9.99 would be a better price. Very small portion for the price. However on this occasion I didn't complain. I ate it and cleared the plate. Only because I had just finished a 15hr day in the truck. I was hungry and very tired. I just wanted to eat get cleaned up and get to bed. The food was cold, the chips were beyond cold and i think the other half of them fell on the floor on their way to me. Very stingey and the whole meal just very average. I certainly expected more. However I should have said something, I just couldn't be bothered to send it back and wait any longer.

Appalling service. We booked in advance and quickly shown to our seats (part of 6). The, very nervous, server took our drink and food order withing 5 mins of being seated (so far so good). Just under 20 mins later our drinks arrived. We'll most. We only got 5 of the 6 order she had forgotten the coffee. She put the drinks tray on the table and stood there looking. Eventually I distributed 5he drinks, she took the tray and asked, again, what the 6th drink was. She soon arrived with the coffee and my wife asked for sweetener. She said they only jave sugar in small packets. So my son went to to car to get some from his bag. On the way he saw a selection of condiments (near where they serve breakfast) including the sweetener that our server said they do not do. Food arrived soon after the drinks, once all food had been served I looked for the. "jug of gravey" that should have come with my I order of three mini pies, I had to get the attention of a server and ask for it. I Should have had 1 chicken tikka 1 steak and Ale 1 minted lamb. Jad the chicken tikka (dry and pasty and sucked the moisture from my mouth) but the other two were either both steak and ale OR they forgot to put the mint in the minted lamb .. .. yes I am being sarcastic they were both the same). 5he meal was small, a few chips and a few peas. Ledt me hungry. Meanwhile, my son called a server and asked for a steak knife to cut his steak, it didn't arrive and he had to get someone else attention and ask again. He then noted that he did not get the "half a fried tomato" that should have some with his mixed grill. Then on cutting his "medium rare" steak he found it was on the well cooked side of "medium well". My wife had Fish pie. Clearly ledt too long in the microwave as even after opening it up and leaving it for some minutes it was still hotter than the sun (yes an exaggeration but you get my drift). She said she struggled to find any fish, appart from three prawns, it was more like mash and sauce. On the plus side, my sons wife had smothered chicken, it was a huge meal, on a big plate and so much you couldn't see the plate, she said it was very nice. The children liked their pizza and sides. On finishing our meals and sitting there for a considerable time we manged tonget someones attention and order the kids deserts. 20 minutes son went to find someone and ask how much longer as we had a 2 hour journey ahead of us and it was now gone 7 PM and the kids were getting tires. He was told they "are doing them and it will be another 5 mins". So tottal of 25 mins to prepare on child's ice cream and one child's brownie and ice cream. During the entire time there no-one asked how our meal was or if everything was OK. Needless to say we did ot leave a tip and will not be in a...

I have eaten here many times since 2014 In May I decided to change my eating habits: large breakfast (here) small lunch and light snack supper. Pretty much every morning I have 2 bowls of different cereals and fruits plus fresh whole fruit (total 23 plant varieties. I sprinkle my own seed selection on the cereal (plus 5 plants) and drown it with ice cold whole milk. If still hungry I have 3 scrambled eggs, 2 hash browns, mushrooms and beans (3 more plants) Between May and October I have lost 5kg. I have had diabetes for more then a quarter of a century - 29 years and am 79 in three days' time. Eating like this has completely CURED my diabetes. I no longer take 3 tablets a day to control blood sugar levels. Followers of professor Tim Spector and the beloved Michael Moseley will know what has happened to me. I fixed my biome (the bugs in your gut) All it was to me was: a hearty breakfast each morning. To my biome it was a daily feast of nutrients for the good flora to the exclusion of the bad ones. I feel great! Thanks to the Hut and all it's kind and caring staff - and breakfast.. Never have I had such an awful meal in my life just couldn't eat it . Firstly the meat was tasteless , the Brussels that appeared to be frozen were overcooked and hadn't been drained. The pigs in blankets were just one cocktail sizes sausage with possibly less than hal a rather of bacon wrapped round it, the stuffing was a frozen stuffing ball that was soggy inside and the carrots tasteless. We had booked for a group of ten for the Christmas meal yet were charged on individual items so it made the bill nearly seventy pounds dearer than what it should have been . No atmosphere, no Christmas crackers or decorations. A person serving although very polite was clearly out of their depth and kept coming back to the table to question things , Also tables set out in a manor that mean I personally had my my back to two clients, When a member of staff brought some puddings that were not for our table she really seemed quite stressed and abrupt This was the same person who when we were trying to pay the bill was getting very flustered. These were clients who have learning difficulties , autism etc and we're looking forward to this meal and we're very upset about the whole experience. Myself I only ate my starter ,yes the pate and the chutney were ok but the toast was one slice of an extremely cheap value bread ,no presation ,no side salad or decoration etc. for £16.99 you don't expect to much but sorry this was awful . Definitely do not recommend and certainly would not visit again. To make matters worse we paid out £56 in taxi's getting there...
