Nando's Huntingdon — Restaurant in Huntingdonshire

Lovely staff, but unfortunately the failings of this establishment are multiple.

My partner and I attended this Nandos for a date on Wednesday evening. We chose midweek specifically as we wished to avoid the weekend rush. Upon arrival, we were informed that there would be a wait of 20 minutes, despite there being multiple free tables. We ended up waiting closer to 40 minutes, as there were no "small tables" available. In spite of this, we witnessed a party of 3 walk in and be immediately shown to a table, whilst we were still waiting. I understand the need to keep bigger tables clear for bigger parties, but a 40 minute wait for 2 people, contrasted with no wait for 3 people (who arrived afterwards) truly beggars belief.

In this same time period, a whole football team of schoolchildren, probably 15+ children, and teachers, appeared. They were seated, and proceeded to place their mass order, ensuring that the kitchen would be fully backed up when we finally managed to order food.

For perhaps the last 15-20 minutes of our wait, there were at least 2 "smaller tables" that had become available, but unfortunately, these were not cleared, so we were again left waiting.

When we were finally seated, I proceeded to order the chicken wings. After waiting perhaps another 20 minutes, I was informed by a (very lovely and apologetic) staff member, that the chicken wings were no longer available due to the football team ordering all available wings. I was offered an alternative meal, which proved to be underwhelming at best, with the chicken being rather dry.

I would like it to be known that throughout the whole experience, the staff were all very nice and sympathetic, and I am sure that they were doing the best that they could. However, this restaurant has noticeably slipped in quality over the last few years, likely through no fault of the average employee, but more probably from corporate incompetence and inflexible policies. Nando’s in Huntingdon used to be our family’s favourite place to eat out but in the recent past it hasn’t been very good. My recent visit to this establishment proved to be a disheartening reiteration of its lackluster standards. In the past the food never failed to impress. The food, devoid of any culinary flair or finesse, was a mere shadow of a satisfying meal but the service was an appalling exercise in incompetence. Upon entering, we gave our name to be on the list but the waiter failed to write our name in the list. He did mention there would be a 20mins wait. We patiently waited for 30mins and saw many tables empty and the crowd kept growing near the entrance and outside. Our names were curiously absent from the waiting list, leaving us stranded in a state of limbo for a full thirty minutes. As more patrons were seated after us, the waiter dismissed us not being early. This blatant disregard for our presence was a stark reminder of the restaurant's indifferent attitude towards its customers.

I cannot fathom why anyone would continue to patronize this establishment, where mediocrity reigns supreme. The service, bordering on outright negligence, left us feeling disrespected and unappreciated. There was a clear lack of consideration for its guests.

Some of the worst customer service I've ever seen. The only reason this gets a star at all is because the food is decent. I visited on Sep 22nd early afternoon for a take away order. I called it in at 1:30pm and they said it'd take 20 min and it would be ready. I showed up 30 minutes after placing my order and they said it'd be ready soon. I waited until 2:20 and finally asked how long my order would be because it had been nearly an hour since I ordered and finally someone gave me an update and I got my food an hour after having ordered it. No one mentioned that they had been running behind or they were experiencing a rush. No update just "Give us your money and we'll give you your food when we're good and ready." Everytime we order from this location the timeliness is terrible, our order is usually wrong or given away to another takeaway, and no one ever bothers to give an update as to why the order is late or wrong. Unbelievable that this should happen every single time we order...
