I'd been given a tip that this place was good for food from my manager at work. We often share our experiences about pubs and restaurants and the Duckworth Hall Inn is definitely worth the visit! At first glance it looks nothing like a hall at all. The sound of the name of this place led me to expectations of a grand design in architecture. Like some sort of country manor or a mansion but in all honesty it's just a pub. The interior is well kept but it's old fashioned and nothing like these pubs that have been done up to look modern. I kind of liked it though because it was cosy and the barman made us feel very welcome. However, it's diamond in the rough is the food it delivers! Wow! What an excellent plate of food it was. Proper pub grub cooked just as it should be and on a warm plate too. I had the mince beef and onion pie with chips, veg and gravy. Absolutely delicious. A good plate of food like this makes you feel happy and then it's etched in your memory for when your appetite returns in the future. I'll definitely go here again and whoever reads this review should hear my words well when I say, go to the Duckworth Hall Inn if you're hungry. You'll be glad...
Read moreCalled in on good Friday after an all too rare victory for Accrington Stanley. We had not booked as planned for 2 other pubs, neither of which were available. In fact, it was to our advantage as Duckworth was a great option. The pub is comfortable and clean without being stuffy. Staff were excellent and looked after us well without being pushy. There is not a big menu, and some dishes were sold out. I take this as a good sign as everything is done fresh and some dishes are popular. The drinks were very good. Theakstons well kept and a good selection of non alcoholic drinks. There are numerous pictures etc advertising Jameson's, but sadly there was none to buy, but Paddy's Irish whisky was a good substitute. All the food tasted nice and we were all more than satisfied. I noticed a nice garden outside. For my next visit, we might take advantage of...
Read moreThis pub has recently changed hands and the new owners are still settling in. A large booking for 15 people was taken whilst the previous owners were in charge. It was difficult to get in touch with the new owners due to their teething problems but once they were aware of the issue they promised to rectify it as soon as possible.
The chef is still the same and so the quality of food has been maintained. The service was a little slower than I would have liked, such as taking the orders but again I put that down to the server still getting used to his role. The good took time but this was due to it being a large order.
All the food came out at the same and was hot. The quality of the food was exceptional and I would heartily recommend...
