Morrisons Cafe — Restaurant in Ipswich

I have been to Morrisons cafe several times. This visit was a mid week lunch time to the Sproughton road shop.

When we arrived there was no one serving at the first til. There were people waiting at the second til which was unmanned. After a few minutes a young lad began serving at the second til, he was wearing a uniform shirt which looked In need of a through wash. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast which I have had on previous visits. The lad on the til said that they didn't have any vegetarian sausages and offered a substitute. When the breakfast arrived it was much smaller than the ones I have had previously , there was no toast or fried bread, it consisted of a few spoonfuls of scramble egg, mushrooms, and baked beans. Decided to pop into the café for lunch, which turned out to be a mistake. We were met with a huge queue that was barely moving, made worse by the fact there was only one till open to serve everyone. It took an incredibly long time just to place our order. When the food eventually arrived at our table, it was cold. We then had to get up and go searching for cutlery as none was available at the cutlery station. To top it all off, my wife's eggs had pieces of shell mixed in, which was really unpleasant and put her off her food. The only saving grace of the entire visit was that our 7-year-old, ate for free, which we appreciated. Honestly, that offer is the only reason this is a two-star review and not a one. Awful food, had a vegetarian breakfast - mushrooms were barely cooked, hashbrowns were soggy, vegan sausages tasted like cardboard, coffee machines were turned off so had to make your own drinks, using instant Morrisons own coffee, cups were dirty, tea pots were thick with limescale, cutlery was dirty, tables were sticky, part of our order never came out, the waiter literally threw sauce packets across our table. Other than when the food was brought out, no staff were around.

This was our second visit to the cafe, the first experience wasn’t much better but thought we’d give it another go.

It’s a shame as I prefer Morrisons supermarket to some of the others but will opt for others in the area as their cafes are much,...
