Decided to go for a nice meal with the partner, unfortunately will not be returning. We ordered on the app. Drinks and starters came out which were lovely. Mains then came out before starters had been cleared. Wasn’t told we had to get our own cutlery/sauces. I had ordered the rump steak. Cut into my steak which I asked for medium rare and it was blue/rare. Had no check backs, there was no staff on the floor, so had to go up to the bar and ask for it to be cooked for longer. Unfortunately it came back out the same. Could hardly cut into it, a lot of gristle. My partner had the Smokey jack burger, which unfortunately wasn’t all that either. Burger patty itself had no flavour, bun was soggy from the amount of sauce they had smothered on and the cheese was hard from where it had clearly been sat under the heat lamp for a bit. Staff were lovely and took off one of the meals for us and apologised. But unfortunately will not be returning after this.

The Thrasher Pub, a name that hints at edge but delivers nothing but emptiness. Step inside, and you’re met with the kind of sterile atmosphere that sucks the life out of you. It’s a pub where character has been replaced by corporate monotony. And then, to top it all off, there’s the spectacle, a staff member, clad in CP gear, the goggles tucked in his hood type, acting the part of a thug, ready to throw down with another staff member. It’s a chaotic, almost farcical It’s an awkward, cringe-worthy display that turns the pub into a stage for ill-conceived theatrics rather than a place of camaraderie. The Thrasher is less a pub and more a cautionary tale of what happens when personality is drained out of the walls. In the end, it’s a place to avoid, a spot where you’ll spend your money and walk away with nothing but the faint taste of disappointment. If you’re in Ipswich, do yourself a favor and keep walking. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

This is our second time visiting the thrasher in Ipswich and it did not disappoint. We choose the Sunday deal that was £12.99 for two mix ups (there was other options but I love a mix up) and two for £4 Non alcoholic ciders (huge amount of drink in comparison to a £2.90 coke). Service was really good, everything ordered and paid for through the Greene King app - really recommend easy to use and pay electronically. This way you can leave when you want without hanging around for the bill and feeing you have to tip. I would have tipped our server she was great, sorry I don’t know the name. Plenty of parking. Plenty of choice. We was disappointed that there was no Sunday roast available. Toilet facilitates were clean and well looked after. Lovely pub we will continue to visit for a nice reasonably priced mea out. Thank you to all the staff working Sunday evening on 5th March 2023.

Not been for a while so decided since they've had a change of menu we'd give it a go,walked in to find all but one table reserved, lucks in here I thought! Nothing is further from the truth and I now wish no tables had been available! Went to the bar and placed orders for food and drinks,4 mains 4 soft drinks, two for kids, asked if we could could have a half pint of lemonade and half pint of coke, only to be told they only do one size! Made one change on one of the meals swapped out rice for chips, didn't have to wait long for the food to come out, which being fairly hungry was a blessing,,Jerk Chicken & Wings Half roasted chicken seasoned with authentic Dantes Soul Food TM jerk rub, plus crispy chicken wings tossed in jerk sauce. Served with savoury rice, coleslaw, spicy herb garnish and Caribbean sauce, this sounds absolutely spanking and it's the one which had the rice swapped for chips, unfortunately what is described is not what I got minus rice plus chips! The chicken was rock hard and and dry,no seasoning just a generic sauce resembling a jerk sauce poured over it,the wings were deep fried and crispy to the point that they had fried what little meat they had on them into these little crunchy things that could break your teeth! Tossed in nothing but the oil they were overcooked in,no spicy herb garnish no coleslaw, mentioned this to that waitress to be told they had run out! Ok would of been nice to of been told this when ordering,,asked for servettes as they had none out when we collected cutlery, again to be told they had run out! A restaurant with no servettes, could it get any worse? Yup it did, every bottle of sauce was down to the dregs no attempt made to refill or get another, even when a waitress stood and watched the bottles being knocked on the table to get what was left out,3 meals came with peas, which you could use as ammo in a BB gun and they'd do more damage than a Ball bearing! They also had a funny musty mould like taste so thinking about it although green and round were they really peas! Ordered the onion ring horseshoe, soggy under cooked onion rings are not what I was expecting but that's what I got! ,the one and only saving grace for the main meals were the chips, they were cooked perfectly, giving them another chance I went for desert, obviously not thinking straight as still hungry after tackling said main course, The Horseshoe Homer, A donut sliced in half filled with vanilla ice cream whipped cream and fresh strawberries said that description, that's what I got,my guess Is they come in frozen and ready prepped so you can't go wrong, but as for the rest of it,totally disappointed and all the waitress said was I don't cook it I only bring it to your table,I wasn't expecting Bistro quality good but I at least expected something edible, and to top it off most of the reserved tables in the section we were in sat empty for the duration of our meal. Well that's my review and I won't be going back anytime soon not after this latest disaster. I was half expecting Basil Fawlty to come out of the kitchen and ask what...

Well it's safe to say the Thrasher had a nightmare on Saturday 19th of Jan. Me my partner and my child arrived at about 6pm we was luck to get a table as a family of 4 were just leaving as we arrived. We managed to place our order with no queue at the bar at about 6.30. 40 minutes had passed and some of the other customers were beginning to get a little restless as to where there food was, we still sat patiently up until about 7.40 so an 1.10 after we ordered. This time going up to the bar the queue was huge with numerous people complaining and getting refunded their money. The bar staff had only just been told that they had ran out of chips. So approximately an hour and 15 minutes after taking my order along side everyone that came in after me the kitchen staff only just realised that they had no chips..... After receiving a refund from the front of house we were told that someone had gone to pick some chips up. I spoke to one of the waitresses who told me the chips won't be long if we would like to wait the food will be out shortly. So we waited another half an hour then Lowe and behold our food arrived. Now at this point I was just happy to have some food Infront of me because I was very tempted to leave numerous times but sat tight.

Unfortunately for the Thrasher the food was still dreadful. With cold chips, dry pasta, burnt burgers, burnt rolls, over cooked steak to be honest the list goes on and on.

I have to be honest that the front of house staff which the only name I managed to get was Micheal who was in the bar, the two young ladies waitressing and I believe a manager who was also serving on the bar. Well done to you for managing a very tough evening. All customers that left because the kitchen mess up I'm sure will say the same as I am that you all kept your cool and held great hospitality, all were very apologetic and waited to our needs as best they could.

I will return here with my family because 9/10 times it's great value for money and a nice environment.

I trust that the kitchen staff will be spoken to about the absolute catastrophic evening they had. A lot more attention to standards is needed and I feel a lot of customers will agree with me on that. Bad evening for...

Today we had a meal as a family of 6, 2 adults and 4 kids (age 4,11,12,14) We were seated quickly and also offered some colouring bits to keep the smallest busy but all the kids joined in haha There also a little play area which the youngest two were very happy with. Myself partner and eldest child ordered from the main menu and was given advice to go for one of the offers as my fiance chose gammon which was on special. Food arrived very quickly and customer service was also very good. All the food was lovely and up to expectations. Myself and eldest son had a burger, which I was impressed with was very tasty and filling too. The gammon was a little fatty, as it sometimes is, but flavour was very nice and all the kids were really happy with their nuggets carrot sticks ect. It took a little while for the table to be cleared ready for desert, but this was no disaster as the kids just went outside to play. There wasn't a huge choice of dessert, but they have all the basic favourites. All the kids went for ice cream which was great and me and my fiance had millionaire cheesecake which was delicious.

In short it was a really nice meal and a very pleasant experience and a great comfortable place to have a family dinner. Pricing is very fair and it's just good pub food probably one of the better hungry horse places to go. I would definitely recommend trying this place for an easy family meal.

I would have given 5 stars if the service was a bit faster and all the chips were a little on the dry side, other then the fries which were skinnier as they were nice. The mains were spot on though! And still...
