Countrystyle Meats is situated on Lancaster Leisure Park to the south of the city next to Lancaster Brewery. The shop is a farm style shop with a local butcher and green grocer specialising in local or fair trade foods and goods as well as showcasing other local businesses such as bakers and ice cream makers.
The prices are higher than the local supermarket but the quality of food is significantly higher resulting in a generally better and more budget friendly experience. Take for instance the homemade burgers. Although the price of a pack of two (or four if a budget brand) of burger from the supermarket there is little to no shrinkage while cooking resuilting in an end product two to three times the size of its budget counterpart with 100% meat and no injected water or rusk. So the final product is the same to greater value.

There's nothing vegetarian on the mains menu but it looks like there's always a veggie option on the specials board, and, I mean, this is a meat shop business, so I didn't expect much choice or love, but I was wrong: nut roast with veg was a quality affair, a slight curried variation on the normal recipe, but not overpowering. Veg crisp and well done, thin gravy was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Now, and let's remember this was great food, the niggles: Heart FM plays loudly, a commercial radio station, so you end off listening to adverts for much of your meal!
