My husband and I had a thoroughly disappointing evening at The Hurley Flyer. We had a reservation for 6:30 pm on Friday 17th and were promptly shown to our table upon arrival. The server explained how to place our order at the bar when ready — all fine so far. We ordered Fish & Chips and a Steak Americano cooked medium. Simple enough, right? Despite the restaurant being half empty, the service was painfully slow. When the food finally arrived, the Fish & Chips looked great. Unfortunately, my Steak Americano was missing key ingredients listed on the menu — no bacon, no cheese, no BBQ sauce. I flagged this with the server, who disappeared for quite a while before returning with the dish now topped with melted cheese and BBQ sauce — still no bacon, and the steak was cold. When I raised the issue again, the server insisted the Americano only came with cheese and BBQ sauce. I pointed out the menu in front of me, which clearly stated otherwise. After checking, he admitted I was right and offered to fix it again. But by then, my husband was halfway through his meal and the moment was ruined. I declined and asked for a refund instead. When we went to the bar to get our refund from what I can only assume was a supervisor she wasn’t that apologetic and made very little conversation just tapped on her screen several times. Very poor customer service. Overall, the experience soured what should have been a pleasant evening. We won’t be returning — even if we're back in the area we would give this place...

The Hurley Flyer is a proper sports bar/pub with top quality and tasty food to boot. There are a large number of TVs throughout the venue, at least 9 inside and one large TV in the outside garden area. Everything is well-organised, clean and as you would expect in a sports pub with an area within the pub that can be described as the 'sports area', complete with a pool table and large wall-mounted TV. The outside seating area is also furnished with a large TV and is ideal for enjoying the sunny weather and televised sport at the same time.

I visited recently to enjoy a nice afternoon meal with a friend and it just so happened to be at the same time as the Manchester City vs Manchester United FA Cup match. The atmosphere in the pub was calm and friendly with the staff members making us feel instantly welcome as we ordered drinks and found a table to sit down. Ordering of food was fairly straightforward via the bar and it arrived in less than 15 minutes. My friend ordered the mixed grill whilst I opted for the veggie burger with fries. Both servings were appetising, ample in size and served with a smile by our waitress who made sure to check up on us a little later to make sure that all was as desired. Excellent...

We had an unfortunate visit to this establishment last night. Firstly let me commend the staff who were absolutely run off their feet but remained cheerful and extremely friendly. We had booked a table and on arrival we’re told to just find a table and order from the bar. There were dirty tables all over the place that were only cleared around 2 hours later. The poor chap taking food orders was also serving drinks, at one stage he had run out of large glasses for wine. The starters arrived about 2 hours after ordering with the staff being very apologetic. After 3 hours our mains arrived which were very good. We offered a full refund and a drink on the house which was very welcome. Whoever is in overall charge of managing this establishment needs to visit and see the pressure the staff are under. If there aren’t enough staff to run the whole place then think about reducing the amount of tables on offer. Whilst we were there we observed quite a few people complaining about the waiting time for food and at least one couple walked out. As I said earlier the staff were amazing and I feel very sorry for them being under so...

Just basic pub grub. Nothing major wrong with it but nothing to make you want to rush back and dine here again. The pub looked clean and tidy. Wasn’t that busy when we went on a Thursday afternoon so plenty of options on where to sit. Ordered food at the bar. One mixed grill and one fish and chips. Food arrived a fraction over 15 minutes from ordering it. Asked for a soft egg and my steak medium rare. Both cooked that way. Steak came in two pieces. First smaller piece was fatty and very chewy. The second, larger piece was much nicer. Gammon was very salty. Chicken nice and tender. Sausages a bit disappointing. Chips good and hot but by time I got around to the peas and mushrooms they had gone cold. My brothers fish looked over cooked to me and dry. It had started to curl at the ends which suggest it had been kept warm under a heat lamp. But my brother said it was fine and didn’t taste over dry. Staff did ask if everything was ok. Well yes it was. It was just that, ok. Nothing that would make us rush back to eat there again. And if I was to try the food here again I would order something other than the mixed grill.

Visited today for a Sunday dinner with my mrs and we enjoyed it. It appears to have new staff since our last visit and the Service from Colin was brilliant and he couldn't do enough for us. Really friendly and we were made to feel welcome. The food was amazing ( see photos) we couldn't finish it as the portion was huge having the larger option. Everything was cooked to perfection by Wayne the chef. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this little gem. Dogs are welcome and they even have a doggies menu 😁 and a doggie takeaway for your not so socialising doggies. Can't praise them enough. Our new favourite place. You won't be disappointed.
